Familiar Places

You decided it would be best to get some sleep before the ball later in the evening. You were tired after all. And as long as you were honest with yourself, you were stressed for the Ball. You got into the comfiest clothing you had and tucked yourself away under the comfort of your warm bed. Closing your eyes you fell into a long lost dream.

You opened up your eyes and presented to you was a graveyard. A black cat was sitting on the ground in front of you, it was looking into your eyes. You observed the surrounding area.

A dead tree was rested to your right, dead leaves around it, some ferns were scattered around it. The tree was full of ravens accompanied by snakes hanging on the branches. They were looking right into your eyes.

"I know this place." This was the first dream you had when you first heard Bill Cipher.

You then noticed the second tree, to the left, it was the one that had been full of life, it was gone, the daisies and dandelions that had surrounded the tree were wilted. The doves that had once lived in the tree were gone. The butterflies, that were once flapping their wings around the tree were not in sight. It looked empty.

The gravestones were worn out, some had dirt or cracks, while others had chunks removed or they were completely demolished, their rubble laying where they use to stand. The gravestone with two hands clasped together was in good condition, it just needed a good dusting. The black and white horse gravestone was destroyed. The butterfly stood strong with some cracks formed into its base. The torch that laid upside down was the strongest looking one of them all. The anchor and the sun had a solid cut being the diameter of the gravestone, they looked as if they could be joined together. The last one, the boat looked in okay condition, there were no signs of cracks, but it looked old and worn out.

The cat meowed. Startling you. You looked at the cat and got down to its level, "Long time no see young acquaintance." You said reaching your hand down to pet it. The cat then turned around and started to take off down the path. "This is starting to feel familiar kitten." You shouted out towards it, really talking to yourself more than the cat.

You made your way down the path and to the fork, the cat was here this time. It was once again looking up at you, it meowed at you. It was talking to you, like you would understand.

Looking at the three paths you noticed that they had little change in them. The far right path was still dark and run down, the stone path being torn and damaged badly. While the middle one was shaded and had some life, its path had dirt and weeds growing in between each stone. The far left one was full of life and animals, the sun was shining brightly through thin trees.

You looked down to the cat, which was rubbing its head against your leg. "Well? What do you want me to do kitten." You asked the cat. It looked up at you and gave you long meow. "Oh of course." You said to yourself sarcastically. You took another glance at all three paths. "Guess we are going down the middle one." You said as you picked up the black kitten.

You and the kitten made your way down the long path, trees surrounding your left and right, a running stream was to your right making the walk seem more relaxing. You pet the cat as you continued your way down the path. "What does this dream mean little one?" You said holding the cat in front of your face as you continued your walk forward. "Dreams always mean something." You looked into its unexplained eyes. It was almost like they were trying to tell you something. Whatever that may be, it was failing.

You ran into a dead end, the space around it was surrounded by tall bushes and trees making it hard to see beyond. "Seriously? This is what all that walking was for." You rolled your eyes and set the cat onto the floor. You looked around trying to find any way to peak around. "Well, guess we will make our way back" You said as you turned around you noticed the cat was gone. "Kit-"

Just as you were calling out for the cat the floor below you collapsed and you were falling down what seem to be nothing but darkness. Soon that darkness turned into the sky. You were above the clouds, your heart rate picked up. You were trying to make yourself float in the sky or at least try to stop falling in general.

The sky around you was a bright blue the sun beaming onto your skin. Below you the clouds were dark and heavy. You quickly broke thru the clouds and instantly knew where your were.

The field.

You landed in the tree you came accustomed too. The leaves had been torn away by strong winds, rain was beating against your skin harshly. Your hair was soaked and your skin hurt. The only thing producing light was the pulsing blue coming off of the tree.

You got off of the tree and observed the triangle engraved in it. "Now why are you pulsing?" You asked it as it pulsed slowly. You ran your fingers over it feeling all its edges. You turned around and looked at the dead field before you. "I guess the good things die soon."

You suddenly something caught your attention from your left eye. You snapped your head in the direction. You saw a small butterfly flapping its wings past you. "Now how in the world are you alive little fella." You followed the direction it went. It went around to the opposite side of the tree and landed against the bark.

You put your finger in front of it to grasp onto. It got startled and flew away, as you watched it fly away you dragged your hand down the bark, familiar bumps were felt against the tree. "What the?" You looked back at the bark squinting at it feeling the area. You found yourself outlining an upside down triangle. "No way." How could you have never felt this sooner. You snapped your fingers a blue flame appearing and you brought it to the tree. Carved into it was your symbol, an upside down triangle, eye shut, a single tear falling.

"Why in the world are you not lit up?" You asked it. You ran your free hand against the eye, and suddenly it pulsed a yellow light. "Well, there we go."

The world around you darkened and before you could do anymore you were awoken by Unzi, "It is time to get ready miss!" He said enthusiastically.
