I had been running for what seemed like forever, when I finally slowed down. I looked around cautiously, making sure there were no Grievers. I was unable to hear the mechanical whirring sound, so I assumed I was safe.

But then, the noise came back.

I turned around to see the Griever catching up to me, I stumbled backwards a bit, but then I stopped. Why not just let the beast take me? The Glade was hell, but the afterlife couldn't be any worse. As it approached me, I sucked in a deep breath.

The Griever came towards me, and extended a large metal claw. It reached out for my right leg, and twisted. It let go momentarily, causing me to stumble backwards. I nearly fell to the ground next to a corridor, until I was yanked to the side. A hand covered my mouth, and I realized it was Thomas and Minho. "What-"

"Shut up and follow me!" Minho said, and dragged me towards a cliff.

It was dark, just black. No stone wall. Just a black, endless doom. The cliff stopped abruptly, and the three of us skidded to a halt before we tumbled over the edge. "These things may be vicious, but they're dumb as dirt. Stand here, close to me, facing-" Thomas cut him off.

"I know. I'm ready." He said. The two of them looked at me, and I nodded. It was obvious we would dive out if the way, and the Grievers would go over the edge. If all went according to plan, that is.

I painfully limped off to the side. I could barely even stand, I knew I would collapse at any moment.

"We need to be in sync! On my mark!" Minho yelled, as the three of us lined up. The Grievers had made a single file line as they came for us. Why they did it, I don't know. But we were pretty lucky they did. They started to get closer, when Minho gave the signal. "Now!" He screamed.

Thomas and Minho dove one way, while I went the other. The Griever went tumbling over the edge, unable to stop itself. The second went tumbling after it, along with the third. The fourth and final one skidded to halt at the very edge, and I froze, terrified the creature would lash out. But instead, Thomas and Minho pushed it over the edge with their feet.

I quickly scrambled away from the cliff, fearful that the Grievers would return, but they didn't. Thomas curled up on the ground and started crying. I could tell he wasn't able to control it, at all. But I didn't blame him, that must've been pretty awful. After all, he hasn't even been here a week. Minho crawled over to him, and wrapped his arms around his friend. I let them do their thing, while I just collapsed a few feet away from them, shaking uncontrollably.

I lifted up my shirt enough to see my right hip, and was disgusted. You could see that the bone was defiantly out of place, or snapped, or something. There was blood running down my leg, and staining my pants. I touched it lightly, and winced with pain.

I couldn't stand it any longer, so I let the darkness take over as my head fell to the ground.

When I woke up, Thomas and Minho were talking. I had no idea what time it was, but it was light out.

"I can't believe we're still alive." Thomas said in disbelief. Minho nodded, while I did nothing. "Are there more of them? Did we just kill them all?"

"Not likely. We somehow managed to make it until sunrise, just be thankful for that." I told him, to let the two of them know I was awake.

"I can't believe it. Seriously. We made it through the whole night, never been done before." Minho said.

Thomas looked over at the edge of the cliff. "Seems like they disappeared or something after they went over the edge."
