He gaped at his reflection, tears that brimmed the corners of his eyes threatened to fall.
No
He violently shook his head, denying the truth.
Please, NO...
he brought his pale hands up to his face, inspecting the purples splotches that were scattered across his originally pale skin. He was changing, turning into one of Them.
The creatures he had grown to hate. The creatures they were at war with. He knew he wasn't fully human from the beginning, but he never wanted to face that reality. No one on his team knew, he could imagine their faces of disgust and hatred if they were to ever find out.
The purple seemed to grow, tainting his clear pale skin. Tears he had fought back had broken free, streaming down his changing skin.
His surroundings started to change, the bathroom setting disappearing, replaced with nothing but vast white space. Through his confusion he heard voices, they were familiar. He soon realized that the voices were coming from his comrades that surrounded him. Their eyes were filled with rage and disgust as they stared at him, a few turning away from him. Keith looked at them, heartbreak and shame evident in his tear filled eyes. He felt disgusted by what he was, and hurt that even the people he cared for the most didn't accept him.
The Male jilted awake, his eyes wide as tears spilled from them, dripping onto his sheets. "Not again" he choked through sobs. Nightmares had been continuously haunting his once peaceful sleep, though all the nightmares were always the same, the gear of bring outlasted because of his heritage.
His nails dug into his scalp, incoherent murmurs spilled from his lips, just as tears continued to spill from his tightly shut eyes. The male's panicked state clouded his senses, leaving him unaware of the loud knocking at his bedroom door accompanied by someone shouting his name.
His senses seemed to slowly return when a pair of arms firmly secured themselves around his waist. "Keith, breathe. Take deep breaths, I'm here" they whispered.
The pale male did as advised and took deep breaths slowing his heart rate.
"Now tell me, what's wrong?" They asked though they didn't receive a response, instead Keith buried his head into the other's chest, quietly sobbing into their shirt.
"Keith, please tell me what's wrong" they said concern laced in their voice, while rubbing soothing circles on his back.
"I'm sorry" he whispered though barely audible.
"For what?" The other questioned, confused.
"I'm sorry" he repeated, "for being what I am" his gripped tightened on the other's shirt, "I'm sorry for being a monster"
