Crimson, the liquid dripped from the flower's petals just as tears did from his eyes. The male knew he was running out of time, but he rejected the choice of removing the violet petals from his lungs. He didn't want to forget.

He loves her, not you

He knew that Lance had feelings for Allura, he'd learned to had come to terms with the fact. Lance would never know that Keith loved him or that that love was the reason as to why his clock was soon to chime. He wasn't going to tell him about the petals, nor would he tell anyone else that he was fading. He was dying because he had fallen in love.

He'll never feel the same

He knew it all too well. His sights were set on someone and that someone would never be him. Knowing so made his heartache in indescribable pain. The male's throat felt like it was closing, breathing becoming harder by the moment, a familiar metallic liquid rose in his throat along with what he knew were the violet petals that were blooming in his lungs. He coughed and hacked until the crimson-covered rose petals lay in his pale trembling hands.

No one

Keith never planned on telling anyone, he didn't want to bother the others with his problems. They were busy saving the universe, his problems would only get in their way and that's the last thing he wanted to do.

The Galran hybrid was startled out of his thoughts by a knock at his bedroom door. "Keith?" asked a deep voice that Keith had grown to recognize all too well.

"What is it, Shiro?" He responded, his voice hoarse.

"We're all meeting up at the bridge (control room)" stated the older male through the door seemingly not noticing the change in the other's voice.

He gulped, taking in a shaky breath. "I'll meet you all there." Getting up and tossing the petals in a wastebasket that sat in a corner, he went to grab his cropped jacket. The sound of Shiro's footsteps fading.

"Look who finally decided to show up!" Teased the Cuban male whose radiant smile, cause his heart to leap in his chest.

Keith didn't respond to the teasing instead, decided to walk past him, eyes on the ground until he was at Shiro's side. "What's going on?" He asked looking up at the older male

"Allura, Coran, and I have decided since everything seems to be calm for now we should take a break for a while. we've found a planet nearby that's said to have gorgeous flower fields" said Shiro unaware of how Keith tensed at the new information, continuing to skim through more information on the planet.

~~

"Just as he said, this planet really does have extraordinary flower fields," muttered Keith smiling solemnly, as he gazed at the vast field decorated with flowers of all kinds

"They're gorgeous," said someone that now stood at his side, "I've never seen anything like it" continued a voice that he had now identified to belong to the one and only Lance McClain

"yeah" muttered Keith, his gaze returning to the colorful fields. "Where are the others?" he asked, feeling a coughing fit coming on.

"They're greeting the planet's people" shrugged the blue-eyed male moving his gaze from the fields to the pale male that stood next to him. "Hey, Keith?" he questioned, though he only got a hum of acknowledgment in return. "You've been acting off lately, is something wrong?" he asked concern laced in his tone

"I-He'll never feel the same-I'm fine, don't worry" He replied, turning to him with a false smile.

"Alright...If you say so" Lance responded not sounding convinced in the slightest, but he decided not to push the subject any further. "I'm gonna go find Allura," He said before walking away.

Once Lance was out of sight, Keith dropped to his knees and starting to cough. blood dripping from his mouth and onto the ground, staining it

He stared down at the violet rose, dripping with crimson, that he hacked out of his corrupted lungs. "my time is running out faster than I thought it would" He muttered to himself, staring blankly at the rose that lay in his hands

~~

He couldn't breathe, the last stage was coming to an end, he was dying. -blood began to spill from his parted lips and onto his bed sheets- the flowers had begun to grow their thorns and fill his lungs. -tears spilled from his eyes, though they were void of any emotion as he lay in his bed- Even though it was killing him, he didn't regret falling in love. How could he regret loving someone as extraordinary as Lance McClain? If Allura made him happy then, who was he to try and make Lance love him? -His vision began to fade, a glimmering crimson dripping violet rose lay atop his partially parted lips- "This is goodbye" He thought, his body losing function. -Stray tears slid down the side of his head as his eyelids began to shut, hiding his once vibrant violet orbs. His heartbeat faded with every passing moment, and his ragged breathing- A single thought crossed his mind before he was completely gone:

Love

Really

Does

Kill
