Ch. Six
"No," I said stubbornly.
"Yes," he argued.
"I refuse," I refuted, crossing my arms over my chest and looking away haughtily in a way to show him I didn't want to argue with him.
"Please," he pleaded, sliding swiftly so I was once again facing him. I stared at him for a second and held his shoulders gently.
"Not if the world depended on it," I said as fakely sweet as I could manage.
"Jacob," he whined, looking behind me for my brother, who was chatting up some redhead. Even though she looked like a major ditz, I had to admit that her eccentric hair colour was kinda cool.
"I'm kind of busy here, Grayson," Jacob waved him off. Grayson groaned and looked back at me, partially defeated.
It was Saturday (a week from the incident at that diner Downtown, to be exact) and we had been at Canada's Wonderland for the past three hours. We had visited most of the games, rides and concession stands and we were just at a bench waiting for Mia and Lia to come back from the washroom. Jacob was talking to the eccentric ditz and Grayson was trying and miserably failing to convince me to go on the Behemoth. I had never been on it before, and I refused to change it now.
"What's it going to take," he asked. I thought for a second.
"Fifty bucks," I responded sarcastically. He raised a brow.
"Deal," he said and walked off in the direction of the Behemoth line. I stared after him for a second before his words regstered into my mind.
"Wait seriously," I asked, scampering after him in my faithful Doc Martens.
"I'll give it to you after you ride with me," he confirmed, turning and walking backwards to talk to me. I grumbled and walked up to him in the shrinking line.
"I can't believe your making me do this," I mumbed. He grinned down at me. I rolled my eyes and readjusted the red flannel that was strung through the belt loops of my black jeans. My stomach was beginning to get upset just by watching the rollercoaster dip and twist. At least I hadn't eaten in the past hour, so I had one less thing to worry about.
"Don't worry it will be fun," he soothed as we walked past the ticket booth girl and sat in the third cart of the coaster. Fun my donkey! As the other carts filled up, the grl walked around and made sure that everyone was properly strapped in before she went back and started the ride. It lurched slightly before it began to move....
And I began to hyperventilate.
I breathed heavily and my heart pounded against my chest even though we hadn't gotten to the scary parts yet. I clung to the bar in front of my for dear life and kept my body tight.
"Just sit back and enjoy the ride," the idiot whispered. Before I could remark we were thrown down the tracks and my screams mixed in with everyone else's along with the sound of the wheels on the tracks. I squeezed my eyes shut and my body swayed and jerked with the ride. The wind from the speed of the ride made my blue shirt flap wildly in the wind. In my mind I chanted my numbers up to thirty seven mississippis, willing it to be over.
"Katy," Grayson said.
"What," I shrieked.
"We stopped," he snickered smugly. I popped open one eye and took in my surroundings before I realised he was right.
"That was horrid," I said, prying my fingers from the bar. Grayson offered me his hand and I shakily held on for dear life. My legs felt as though they were made of jello and my arms felt like spaghetti from clinging on so tightly to that bar. Before I could even walk off of the platform my legs gave way and I was on the floor. Grayson doubled over in laughter, clinging to his sides.
