Ch. Fifteen
"Double seven."
"Triple nines."
"Quadruple X"
"I call lies," I shouted as we turned the corner.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Grayson teased, as if he really didn't have a clue as to wat I was talking about. I giggled.
"How could there be four Xs in a liscense plate," I questioned.
"Customized plates, duh," he countered.
"Shut up. I still think you're lying," I grumbled, snuggling into the seat of the car. We had been travelling for a bit, tryng to find the address Rick had given Grayson the last time we had met for a New Years Eve party his family was hosting. It was about 10:00 and we were supposedly almost there, but I was still fixed that we were partially lost.
For the special event, I decided to turn to the YouTube for some help. I ended up wearing a pair of black skinnies, a black tank top with the words 'Come As You Are' printed in white letters across the chest and a black cardigan. I know it's kind of dark to ring in the new year, so I ended up pairing it with a pair of maroon converse. Yes, Katy because that totally brightens up the outfit.
"Is that it," I asked, pointing out his window to show him the house that was full of lights and parked cars. He squinted at it before nodded and pulling up behind a Toyota. We hopped out the car and strolled down the street to the place filled with lights and laughter. As soon as we walked through the door we were hustled by the many people crammed in the front hall. We pushed past as politely as we could and found ourselves in a much less crowded room.
The interior was pretty festively decorated, even with the few random things from Christmas strewn around the room. People talked loudly over the top songs of 2014 and others danced like it was their last chance. I scanned arund the room until I saw the semi familiar face that was Andrea's and tugged Grayson in that direction. When she saw us coming she grinned and placed down her bottle of beer before headng over to us.
"Hey kid, glad you found the place," she yelled, hugging Grayson and then giving me a smile.
"It was pretty hard to miss, it was the brightest on the block," Grayson chuckled. Andrea let out a hearty laugh before motioning us to follow her into another room.
"Rick! Lok who dropped by," Andrea said, picking up anoher beer. There was a round of 'Ehhh's and then a couple introductions before chatter resumed.
"You're a Nirvana fan," Rick asked, referring to my shirt. I grinned and nodded. That alone stuck up a conversation about the band. See, Nirvana had the power to create acquintances.
Later on, it was time for the count down. One of Rick's cousins had gathered us all together in the living room and the countdown began.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4!"
"Goodbye 2014," I yelled.
"3, 2,1!"
Grayson pulled me into him and kissed me passionately as everyone shouted Happy New Year. When he pulled away we were both left with big grins on our faces.
"And hello 2015," he said, his eyes still on mine.
A.N. I give up on writing nice long thought out author's notes. Maybe when I finish this I might add some but for now I'll write whatever's relevant. Sorry for not updating. I might only get new chapters up once a month, but still be glad if I do. Tight schedule. Volleyball season plus I do gymnastics plus school so sorry for not updating often. Nothing else I need to say. Writing a new book but it won't be published till Summer seeing as its sort of a summer novel. Shhh that's all I can say. Thanks for reading and sorry again! Love you all!!!
