Ch. Eleven
"Katyyyy. Why not?"
"Because I have a job tonight."
"We can do it after then."
"I don't know..."
"Pleaseee?"
"Only if I can go home whenever I want."
"Deal."
I watched as the smug bastard shot me a triumphant grin. It was Friday, October 31, and you know what that meant. Halloween. Later on tonight children would be running around the streets in search of the house that gave out full sized bars. Teens would go around t-ping their neighbours and others would go out and party like no tomorrow.
I, however, had a gig tonight. A babysitting gig. My mom's old friend from a book club had gotten in touch with me and had asked me to take her daughter, Tiana, trick or treating tonight, since she had an article due tomorrow for the paper. Because I could always use the extra money for University, which I had to start applying for soon.
I was now in English class and the smirking baboon had been trying to get me into going to some Halloween party Ashlynn was throwing tonight. He had claimed that he wouldn't feel right going without me, which was a total cliche but still touched me the same way. After a bit of bribing, I had finally given in, which meant I had to get a better costume than myself.
As the bell rang for us to be released, everyone became abuzz for this childish turned mature holiday. Ideas started to swarm in my head as I met Naomi at Grayson's car about what I should be.
"You should be an angel," she suggested. I shook my head, no.
"That is so mainstream, plus I was one last year," I explained.
"No worries though, because I think I have exactly what I want to be in my head," I assured her.
"What about you," I asked. She smirked.
"I am transforming into.... a kitty," she grinned. I stared at her openly.
"Why," I asked. A cat was even more mainstream then an angel was. Where was her originality in this?
"It was Ashlynn's idea," she admitted. I nodded, suddenly seeing how it made sense. When Grayson finally came over to the car he drove and dropped off Naomi at her place before dropping me off. I was supposed to go pick up Tiana in a couple hours, which gave me enough time to get my outfit together. And as soon as I put my things down I set to work.
Digging through my messy closet, I found a black Nirvana t-shirt that Lia and Mia had sent me a few weeks ago. I did some more searching before coming triumphant with a pair of black, red and grey plaid shorts that reached my knees. I then grabbed my black Converse and a pair of mustache themed suspenders to clip to my shorts. If you couldn't guess, I was going as an 80s rocker chick.
I took a quick shower before changing into my homemade outfit. I then grabbed a comb and brush and began feathering my hair until it was fully pumped up. I did my makeup with dark black eyeliner and deep plum lipstick. I finished off the look with a pair of huge sunglasses, and just in time to go get Tiana.

"Can we go over there," Tiana proposed with sparkling eyes. I nodded and we ran across the street to the haunted house that was hosted by the Stevensons every year. The little girl I was taking trick or treating, Tiana, was dressed as, not surprisingly, Tiana from the Princess and the frog. Her resemblance to the animated princess was uncanny. She had the same big brown eyes and a little gap in between her front teeth. Her deep caramel cheeks shone as bright as her eyes whenever she smiled and she had coarse, but long deep black hair.
