The Cheating Game

Ch. Seventeen

"Do you think it's anything major," Naomi asked before munching on a hand full of popcorn. I shrugged. After not being able to get anything out of Jacob, I decided to call a movie night with Naomi so we could discuss my situation.

"He got all uncomfortable when I asked him about it," I sighed.

"Maybe you should leave it alone. I mean, if he wanted you to know he would've told you a long time ago," she pointed out. I nodded. Just then my room door swung open and in popped a grinning Jacob.

"What are my two favourite ladies talking about," he questioned with a huge grin on his face.

"Periods," I responded automatically. He wrinkled his nose and shook his head.

"Whos up for throwing a party," he grinned.

Three hours later and all you could hear was a pounding beat from our surround sound and people yelling and singing along with whatever song was blasting from the speakers. I was dancing around with Naomi, sometimes taking a sip or two of the beer I had in my hand.

"This was a great idea," she yelled over the music. I nodded in agreement and took the last swig of my beer before realizing I was out. I dragged her into the kitchen to look for something else to drink. The first thing I found though, was a couple sucking each others faces off. I left them alone though, because I'd rather it in here than in my room. I searched through a cooler and found a can of Coke.

"Boo," someone whispered in my ear. I turn around quickly to find a smiling Grayson behind me. I squealed and ran into his arms.

"I thought you weren't coming," I asked.

"Changed my mind," he said with a shrug. He dug through the cooler and found a can of beer, which he chugged in about 30 seconds. By this rate he would be drunk in half an hour.

I must have been psychic because an hour later, I was walking around the house with a wasted Grayson by my side. His speech was slurred and I was pretty sure that he couldn't tell his right from his left in this state. As much as I wanted to enjoy the party, I knew that he wouldn't be able to handle continuing the night. So I decided to do the responsible thing and get him to bed.

Now obviously I couldn't drag him out my house and over to his,so I opted for the easy option and just lugged him up the stairs and into my room. As I opened my door, I was thankful that no one had tried to sneak into my room to make out or more. I plunked Grayson into my bed and sat beside him, completely out of breath. The boy was 'h' to the 'eavy'. Then he began to stir and I could sort of make words out of his slurred speech.

"Hey, Kit Kat... Can I..." He began.

"Can you what, Grayson?"

"Can I tell... you something?"

"Of course, what is it?"

"Well.. If I tell you.. don't be mad okay?"

What does he think I'd be mad about?

"Promise."

"Well, you see how you kept asking... about after graduation."

Was he finally going to tell me what his plans were? The same plans only days ago he was extremely nervous to tell me?

"Yes..." I prodded.

"Well... I wanted to tell you.. But I didn't know how. And I'm so sorry.. That you have to find out like this..." He began to doze off.

"What is it Grayson," I asked in a panic. If he fell asleep on me now I would probably not get another chance to fine out. I needed to know now!

"I'm gonna... join the army.." I saw his head loll and I heard soft snores from him. However that's not what I paid attention to. His soft words reverberated through the walls of my mind.

I'm gonna... join the army...

Oh my god I'm so sorry, my apologies. I didn't mean to not like update for over a year basically. I tried a couple months ago and started this chapter but kinda stoked cuz I wasn't feeling it. I'm gonna finish it this week though and post the rest of the chapters, which should be about one or two more, and then an epilogue and this book is done.

I don't even know what happened honestly. Like I started this book two years ago or maybe almost three and its 2016 now and I'm sorry I didn't just finish when I started but I finished now.
