Ch. Nine

"Question: Why do villains demand money if they don't even end up using it?"

"What? That makes absolutely no sense Katy."

"It's a legit question though. They demand millons yet they can't use it. If they go to the grocery store, someone calls the police on them and they go to jail, probably without bail. It makes abslutely no sense to me."

"Shut up," a lady with a wailing baby screamed from the seats in front of us. That definitely drew attenton from the people in the surrounding seats. They all sent her reprimending glares, which she seemed oblivious to before they continued to watch the movie.

It was about eleven and Grayson and I were at the cinema, watching Kick Ass 2 and mucnhing on some Kernel's popcorn we snuck in. After I  watched Lia and Mia leave, I felt that it would be much better for both me and my fellow peers if I just stayed out of school. When I was upset, I was a complete jerk. So, to save a whole bunch of feelings, Grayson took me to Yorkdale for the day. I was still opposed to ditchng, but sometimes you just had to go against your better judgement.

As soon as we got here we visited Kernels and waited in the arcade for the soonest screening of Kick Ass 2, since it was the last week we could see it. We had been sitting through this movie for an hour and a half now, and it was about to be over, I could tell. We were at the part where Hit Girl was getting on her motorcycle and telling Kick Ass that she was leaving.

When the movie was finally over, everyone finally got up and began to file out. The lady finally gathered her distressed child and left.

"I thought she would never leave," I muttered, picking up my bag and phone.

"I know. Who brings a baby to a loud, exploson filled movie," Grayson asked rhetorically. I chuckled in agreement and we started down the aisle. When we exited the dark theatre, we took the escalator down to the main floor and crossed to the Chapter's Indigo across from the cinema. We strolled through the doors and took the escalator up to the Teen section.

"Do you really, honestly need a book now," Grayson whined as I slowly made my way along the shelves. That new book smell filled the air, and because it was early on a school day, the place was basically empty. I stopped at the F section and picked up one of the many 'If I Stay' books on the shelf.

"Yes, Grayson, it's extremely important I get a book now. My dad worries I use my phone for reading too much and told me that if I don't read a 'real' book he would take my phone for a week," I explained, reading the summary on the back f the paperback.

"You are such a nerd," he teased, messing with my gorgeous red mane. I made a face at him and walked to the register in the middle of the kids area.

"Good morning," the girl behind the desk said in a cheery tone. She was blond and had dull brown eyes. She looked to be in her early twenties and her exhuberant name tag read "Cheri", which was an extremely fitting name for this happy blond.

"Morning," I said. I placed the book on the tabnle and reached for my wallet. "This is all."

She scanned the book to find the price.

"$12.45," she said. I took out a ten and a five and handed it to her along with my Plum rewards card. She did her thing and gave me back my change with a bright smile.

"Hey, are you two together," she asked, resting her elbows on the desk.

"Yea," I answered wearily. She pouted slightly.

"That's too bad," she muttered. "That's a great book by the way. A pity the girl dies in a car crash though."

She smiled wickedly, as if that spoiler was supposed to phase me, before looking down and tapping on her phone. Honestly, it didn't matter to me. It was just a cover so my dad wouldn't take my baby ( aka my phone). I would just read about it online if I was asked what it was about. See, this is why I need my phone. It comes in handy.
