Ch. Eight

I looked around my room as my eyes adjusted to the morning light. Last night, after hours of fun I finally crashed. Naomi was on the opposite side of the bed from where I lay, but Lia and Mia were no where to be found. What I could find, however, was a note in Mia's small, neat print.

"The parentals called us super early. Sorry we had to leave without a goodbye -Mia"

That was weird. The Milianos never called so early. It was barely 7:30! Maybe they had a family emergency or something, I wasn't sure.

Dismissing my friends' wierd dissappearance, I gently tapped on Naomi's shoulder. I really didn't want to get to school late today, or any day actually. Even the new me wasn't the type of person to get a tardy without reason.

"Wake up Naomi! It's almost eight," I yelled, walking over to my washroom to wash the sleep out of my face. I then waddled over to my closet to pick out today's outfit. I stuck with a simple mid thigh length black skirt, a well fitting royal purple t-shirt, a black cardigan that matched my skirt's length and a pair of knee height boots.

"Morning," Naomi sleepily yawned from beind me.

"Morning," I said, grabbing the outfit to change into. "You can borrow something of mine if you don't feel like going home to change."

"Okay, thanks," Naomi called back. I went back to my bathroom and got dressed quickly so I would have time to get at least a bit of breakfast this morning. I then stomped downstairs to find Jacob on the couch munching on his favourite cereal.

"Look who decided to wake up," he quipped. I didn't bother acknowledging him and continued to the kitchen where my dad was scrambling eggs and frying bacon. I hadn't smelled anything this delectable in forever! Dad is usually too busy with work to cook breakfast for me anymore.

"Morning Daddy," I chirped, walking around the island and planting a kiss on his cheek.

"Morning sweetheart. How'd yu sleep," he asked, sliding some breakfast onto a plate for me and then proceedng to another one.

"Pretty good. Did you happen to see Lia and Mia leave earlier this morning," I asked, sitting at the table and munching on my eggs.

"Yea, they left arund five," he said, sitting across from me. Just then, Naomi walked in and took the chair right beside me.

"Morning Mr Robertson," Naomi said in that charming accent. Dad smiled at her through a mouth of food and she politely smiled back. The next ten minutes we all ate in silence until Jacob wandered in.

"I'll wait for you two in the car, so hurry up or I leave ya," he said with a wink Naomi's way. I grabbed both mine and Naomi's plates and set them in the dishwasher. We waved goodbye to my dad and then met Jacb in the car.

As soon as we sat down I flicked on the radio and flipped through the stations like I did with the pages of a People's magazine. When I found a song that didn't fully suck I left it there until we got to school. When we stepped out we were immediately flocked on all sides by girls and guys, but one girl stood out in particular.

Maybe it was her beauty, or maybe it was the fact she was practially fuming more than a fireplace ( it was defintiely that), but Ashlynn really popped out of the crowd.

"Naomi," she shrieked. "Where the hell were you last night!? You didn't call, you didn't text, I was worried sick!"

"Chill out Ash, I was with Katy. And I texted my mum where I was," she explained, threading her fingers through her hair. I noticed that her fingers still had some red on them. I guess it was going to take more than a few washes to get that stuff off skin. I smiled, remembering my new funky hair colour.
