A Realization That Came Slightly Late

What a hectic week it has been. Honestly, it would be a surprise if it wasn't hectic.

Living in two bodies at once absolutely shattered my common sense as a normal human being, so I had yet to even properly register the fact I had reincarnated into a different world.

I had some difficulty at first, like limiting my actions to only a single body. I adapted to it surprisingly fast though, so...as expected of babies?

Look! I could raise Elizabeth's right hand without even causing a single twitch in Rin's arms! Ain't that cool? Ahem. Ignore the legs of the other body moving along with my hand movements. Still have to fix that.

Ah, I suppose I should introduce myself. Or ourselves, rather. Introducing my old self seems rather pointless, since Elizabeth and Rin appear to lead more interesting lives as infants than I did back on Earth, which was quite depressing...

Speaking of Elizabeth and Rin, their names were rather familiar somehow. Especially Elizabeth Bathory. I feel as if I was forgetting something important...? Well, I'm sure I'll remember it eventually.

For now, let's introduce the two bodies I have reincarnated in!

First up, Elizabeth Bathory. She must be born to a filthy rich family, since the room Elizabeth me was in was rather well furnished. A bit too gaudy for my tastes, but who was I to complain?

A maid regularly took care of Elizabeth me, and my mother was nowhere to be seen. Was this really how you raised kids, mom!?

Still, I suppose that was natural. After all, I heard the term 'duchess', which meant they were nobility. Combining with the odd clothing they wore, it was likely I was reborn into the middle ages, or a world with a similar time period.

Noble born children back in those days were raised by wet nurses, if I recalled correctly. As such, I didn't even manage to catch proper glimpses of my parents after the day I was born. The only person Elizabeth me was familiar with was the maid named Lily.

Lily was a rather kind person, from what I could tell. She was quite earnest in taking care of me, even though babies had next to zero control over their body functions. S-shut up! It can't be helped! I am an infant now, okay!? A bit embarrassing as a maiden, but I am a baby after all! Two babies, even!

Ahem. Anyway, Lily always nursed me with a bright smile on her face, making me feel at ease, despite the disorientating situation I found myself in. Still, I couldn't help but to feel a certain degree of loneliness, since it's been a week since I last saw Elizabeth me's mother.

On the contrary, Rin me had such nice parents! Rin me's mom personally took care of me, unlike poor Elizabeth me. Even though I hardly noticed Rin's father being around, but he still doted on me during the times he was with me. What a good family.

I wonder what my family, or rather, families' appearances were like? Although I could see colors and blurry scenes, observing the finer details like the features of someone's face was impossible for me.

My eyelids were rather puffy, making it hard to keep them opened for extended periods of time. Furthermore, the vision wasn't focused, contributing to the general blurriness I had mentioned earlier.

I really hope I will get a better grasp on my eyesight soon, since I was rather curious about my new families. That, and to confirm where I was reincarnated to.

If it was Earth, that would explain my ability to understand their speech and their usage of English, but there was also the rather odd clothing they all wore to consider. What a mystery. In fact, you could call my entire reincarnation a mystery. Or it was just that stupid tunnel spiting me...
