"Dear! You won't believe this! Rin just called me mom!"
"Really!? Rin! Say 'dad' too!"
Ah, Rin's family was certainly a nice and lively one. Over the past year I have lived in this world, I preferred to have most of my attention centered around Rin me's environment.
Seriously, as my Elizabeth persona, it was just so depressing as I realized how starved of familial love I was. I have nothing against you, Lily, but motherly love just couldn't be replaced so easily.
However, I was perfectly fine, since as Rin I received quite the loving care. Elizabeth and I did share the same individual ego after all, so it wasn't that huge of an issue that I wasn't taken care of by my parents as Elizabeth.
Still, it was much more relaxing, not to mention much more soothing on my sanity, when it came to Rin me's side of things. As a result, I mostly tuned out Elizabeth me's senses and focused on the Akagi family instead.
Speaking of senses, they were slowly returning to normal levels that I was used to. My hearing, sense of smell, and vision had all improved. Although, I still had trouble using my muscles as well as tasting things, but that was normal for one-year-olds.
You have no idea how overjoyed I was when I woke up one day to discover my eyesight had stabilized to the point where I didn't have to stare at blurry scenery all day long, and I could instead look at the faces of human beings.
Even though it may not sound like much, but the lack of human interaction was, and still is, maddening. Even when it did happen, it was only on the scale of a one sided conversation, with me having difficulty with responding in anything other than gibberish.
So it was a welcomed change when I could finally see the world clearly. Even though it might be a year or two before I could hold a proper conversation with another human being, but being able to see someone else's face was already comforting in of itself.
All that aside, things were all I had expected, huh? Even though I had somewhat hoped that my conclusion nearly a year ago was a bit hasty, but after seeing their faces, it basically affirmed my suspicions.
At least, in regards to Rin's family. I still have yet to see my duke father yet, so I wasn't able to confirm anything concrete. Rin me, on the other hand...
I basically hit all the points on the "did you reincarnate as the heroine?" checklist. Normally I would be excited since I could finally do something different from my dull everyday life, but for some reason I couldn't really be happy about it in this scenario.
Anyway, my father, the more loving one, was a person of eastern descent on the Pangea-like continent that was the setting of the otome game world. Like my mother, he had features with striking resemblance to the Asians of Earth, particularly the countries of East Asia.
To be honest, the culture of Rin me's region was pretty much a copy paste of Japanese Warring States Era culture, but otome games weren't exactly famous for their world building.
As such, my father was dressed in a shabby looking haori, probably because this family of mine was never that rich to begin with.
I refused to call him dad despite his request, because he was currently rubbing up my smooth baby cheeks with that pointy stubble of his. Seriously, go shave it properly, father! I know you are good enough with the blade to do barber work if necessary!
Yeah. Because of his appearance of an useless dad spoiling his daughter rotten, as well as the general air of a homeless dude around him, it was easy to forget that he was a sword saint that knew all seven forms of a peculiar, but prestigious, school of swordsmanship.
