"Something wrong?" I asked, searching for something appetizing on the menu. Lucy's facial expression didn't change, she still looked disgusted with something. She placed the menu up to block her face from me, probably texting some boy on her phone.
"Did you really have to take me to such a cheap place like this? Jess' boyfriend took her to that high end Vietnamese restaurant, that would have been nice for us..." Was all she said to me. For the next five minutes, the conversation between us was null, there was nothing. As an attempt, I asked her if her mom was doing well; she only replied the basic "she's doing okay". I tried again, asking if she's still talking to her best friend Jess, who was also her coworker; she said "yeah, we're still bumping" and that was all. I gave up, and caller over a waiter. I realized that I was just wasting my breath.
"How may I help you, darling?" She greeted me with a smile. At least I'm being treated with some respect. The waiter looked very young, from the small tattoo on her wrist to her tongue piercing, she was way more interesting than Lucy, and I don't even know her name.
"Can I have the classic cabonara without bacon please, while she..." I pointed over to Lucy, who just now noticed the waiter.
"Uh, steak. Rare." Without even saying a please or thank you, the girl sitting across from me went back to her phone. The waiter was taken back, but she said nothing about it, just took our menus and left. As I predicted, Lucy was on her phone, way more interested in whatever was on that small screen then me.
"You know, it's not going to consume your last three brain cells to at least say please at the end of your sentence." I spoke when the waiter went into the kitchen. The girl lifted her eyes from the small screen in her hands and sent me a hard glare. "It's rude to ask for something without being polite. And to such a nice girl who doesn't deserve your attitude as well."
"Damn, maybe I would have if you weren't too busy taking an interest into her." She spit back, and my foot tapping became more aggressive. Here we go again. But hey, at least I'm ending this toxic relationship with a bang.
"Rich of you to say when you have different men leaving your house every other morning." I barked back. I wasn't going down with this ship yet, she wasn't winning this fight that easily. Lucy was taken back by my words, completely appalled as I usually say sorry first when fights between us start to brew. She put her phone on the table, finally looking at me in the eyes. With that shitty glare in her brown eyes, I knew she was planning on a way to turn this onto me and make me feel bad about putting my foot down because she knew my comeback was not only strong, but factual as well.
"So this is how you talk to me after all I've done for you-"
"Don't even try to pull that petty bullshit on me, Lucy. If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be living in that house right now. And your car is a whole different story. I'm still paying off the debt it put me in." She gasped loudly, standing up immediately, disgusted of what came out my mouth.
"How dare you talk to me like that! You know what, I don't need this-"
"And I don't need you, but here we are." I smirked.
"Mark," She wiped her sweaty hands on the napkin laid in front of her, throwing it on the table violently. "We're done."
"We were done a few months ago, but thank you for finally taking me out of my misery." I waved to her as she walked away, throwing her hood on her head. "Hey," I called out for her once more and she looked back.
"Don't be feeding your friends lies about you breaking up with me. They're already full of your bullshit."
"Don't worry your pretty little head about it, I'll be telling them how you lost a real one. You'll never find a girl as good as me."
"You're right. I'll find better." I huffed when she threw her middle finger up at me. I only laughed, pulling out my phone as she angrily stomped her way home. She's finally gone... I sighed loudly, feeling a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders. By the time the tension that surrounded me cooled down and the people that were looking at me looked away, my food arrived in the hands of the same waiter that took my order, and looked at the empty seat across from me.
"Sorry to intrude but where's your little girlfriend?" She asked with a cocked eyebrow.
"Who? That disrespectful girl who sat there?" I pointed to the chair across from me. She nodded. "Don't know her." I smirked, placing my phone to the side while my dish was placed in front of me and placed the steak to the side. Looking at the girl once again, she was cute. Petite with (H/C) hair that covered her (E/C) eyes, a beautiful smile and a chill vibe, a little unique to me.
"You're still going to have the steak? I can tell the receptionist to take it off your bill." I shook my head no, sitting up properly to start eating my food that was going cold.
"Why don't you sit and eat it with me?" I looked up at her with a grin, and she huffed with an intrigued smirk. She looked at the clock and her surroundings before sitting down and setting the plate of meat in front of her.
"I'm closing, but I guess I could have dinner early." She licked her lips as she stared down at the plate in front of her, picking up her fork and knife. She cut a perfect square from the piece of steak and placed it in her mouth, exhaling in delight while her body deflated and her eyes closed for a moment. I smiled at her pleased facial expression and she got embarrassed when she looked back at me staring at her.
"Ah, it's been a long time since I've treated myself to something like this. Thank you for inviting me to eat with you, even though I don't even know your name."
"Mark." I greeted.
"(Y/N)." The girl smiled.

(Y/N) and I had an amazing dinner, better than any of the dinners that included my ex. We both enjoyed ourselves by fulling engaging in a fun conversation, and I payed for both of our meals at the end, although she offered to at least take the steak off the bill. She grabbed her sweater in the back and said she'll be back to her co-works while she followed me out of the establishment.
"So," I started when my laughing died down from the joke she said. "Will I ever see you again? I know it sounds super sudden since we just met, but you're pretty chill." I looked at her and she held our her hand. Confused, I offered my hand, but she slapped it away.
"Your phone." She chuckled, and I mentally facepalmed, handing over my phone. In less than a minute, I had it back. The (H/C) haired girl saved her number on my phone. "I'd like to see you again as well." (Y/N) shivered when a cool breeze passed by. She was beautiful, something different than I'm used to (based on our talks), quiet, polite, the total opposite of my ex, but that didn't stop me there. I feel like I have to dig through another layer of skin to know her true self. (Y/N) left me with a lot of questions about her, but I like being left in suspense.
We'll definitely keep in touch.
