"Were you... perhaps, reincarnated into this world?" I said. People were walking by, talking about how good the food was, servers rushing to each table.
She looked at me, confused. "U-Um, what are you talking about Shane?" She said.
"I said, did you get reincarnated into this world?" I glared at her. She looks confused, maybe she doesn't know what to say. I may have asked the wrong person, maybe she's just an adventurer implemented into this world, and maybe my instinct was wrong?
"U-Um, yes I was, it was just a few days ago. I didn't know I would meet my demise at just an early age, I was 17 at the time. I woke up in an unfamiliar place, and a goddess spoke to me, telling me which afterlife I should choose, she gave me an offer to be transported here to be an adventurer, but I didn't know there were others like me in this world." She replied.
I was right all along, she was like me, reincarnated into this world. But wait, she died at nearly the same age as I am?
"Oh? So I was correct when I suspected you, I thought you were reincarnated like I was, and you also died at a very young age too."
"Too?" She asked me confusingly.
"Yeah, I died when I was 16 years old, and I just died recently and became an adventurer just yesterday and that quest was my first."
She didn't seem to believe me at all. She looks confused.
"But you're a sorcerer? A class A rank? And I just started as a class B."
In this world there are rankings depending on your job class, D being the lowest where you start as a novice and S being the highest, there are also the SS ranks which only a few have.
Each rank has two tiers which vary on your stats.
"Well, I really don't know how it works, but that was registered as my class at the adventurer's guild." I said and handed over my card for her to see. She looked at it and was surprised.
"What was registered as your class? Diana?" I added.
"Oh? Well, I just started off as a crusader a class B rank, the lady said I have amazing strength and endurance, and that classified me as a crusader."
"That's also amazing Diana!" I exclaimed.
"But not as amazing as you are Shane, you got sorcerer right off the bat."
"Well, I'm still new to this world, so I still need to learn to become a proper sorcerer." Well now that I mention it, I didn't even do that much research about this world.
"So Shane, how's the new world for ah?"
"Well, so far so good, it seems to be going well for now. How about you Diana?" I replied.
"Well, I seem to be easily ambushed when I'm out and completing quests, I am very careless of my surroundings, and sometimes I forget to regenerate my HP before I accept a new quest and begin charging right in with 28% hitpoints."
"Eh? You should be more careful Diana, who knows if we can respawn in this world."
"Yeah you're right, I nearly died when I was attacked by does Dire Wolves, thanks again for saving me." She said with a smile.
"Um, by the way, Diana... Do you have any companions or friends at the moment?" I asked with a grin.
"Um, I don't have any friends in this world so far, I've been completing quests all by myself since day one, why do you ask Shane?"
"I was just wondering if we can be friends? Well, we were reincarnated might as well stick together, right?" I asked with an embarrassed face. It's just like asking out a girl on a date! I'm not used to this kind of stuff!
"Sure Shane, why not? I was also curious if there were people in this world just like me, and here I am having a conversation with one."
If there's Diana, there should be more of us, right?
"I was too, I didn't expect someone to have the same fate as me." After I said that, there was an awfully awkward silence, while the people in the background are having a blast.
"Um, so Diana, how did you die exactly?" I added to subdue the awkward silence.
"Ho-How di-did I d-die?" She mumbled.
"Yes, how did you die?"
"Well, I was casually walking back home when I suddenly got hit by lightning, I didn't even know that I would die right after I passed the entrance exams to my new school. I just got the test results and then boom I got struck by lightning."
"Ooooh, that's harsh, what a waste. I'm sorry."
"It's okay Shane, but I just accepted that I already died. Oh by the way, how did you die?"
"M-Me?"
She glared at me. "Of course, who else am I speaking with?"
"O-Okay, well I died when I was about to save a girl from my school. Well, my body moved on its own."
She was about to burst, I see it she's just containing it and it finally came out. She laughed as hard as she can. I found it insulting actually.
"What's so funny?" I embarrassedly shouted.
"You died trying to save a girl you don't know? Are you even sure she was from your school? That's just dumb, but hey at least you saved the girl? Didn't you?"
"It's not dumb, and my body moved on its own anyway, if you were in my socks you would do the same! And yes she's safe, thank you." I said ironically.
"Well, that might be the case, but I'm in another world now dude."
"That's true but... Hey! Don't change the subject." I crossed my arms and pouted out of habit.
"Sorry, sorry." She said in a clumsy manner.
"It's not funny saving a person you know! Hmph!"
I look away and continued pouting. What's her deal anyway? I just saved a girl and she laughs at me, ugh!
"So... Shane." She said softly.
"Y-Yes? What is it, Diana?" I looked towards her and instantly responded.
"I was just wondering, what were you like in the real world?"
"Me? Well, I wasn't that much of a big deal, I was just a shut-in otaku, I seldom went outside, and I really didn't do too well in class, overall I'm a failure? I think? I just missed out in life and wasted it on games." I sighed and scratched my head, giggled off my failure.
"I see, I noticed that you were experienced in this kind of stuff, but I didn't know you were that addicted to games. But, hey even if you were a failure in the real world, at least you can use those skills here, and hey we need to defeat the Demon King after all."
"Yes, I remember that," I replied.
She giggled and looked into the distance through a small window at the inn. I ask her "What about you Diana? What were you in the real world?"
"To be honest, I was the mere opposite of you Shane, I was an achiever at school, an athlete which were I got my strength and endurance, and I've played games a little in my life, but I wasn't addicted unlike you."
"What a waste you had to die at an early age thou-."
Just about I was to continue what I was about to say, a massive explosion was heard in the skirts of town. All the adventurers in the inn stood up and headed out to check it out.
"Let's go, Diana." I stood up and offered my hand to Diana. Diana and I rushed to the scene also. When we arrived where the explosion was heard, the adventurers were swinging their swords, and some were flying from the impact of its attack.
I couldn't believe my eyes, it was massive. A massive-...
