Five days had passed since the Demon King incident up in the hill... Rumor spread through town like a wild fire that I was the only adventurer that survived the rumored tale of the Hill Billy. I became famous all over town and it even spread to other neighboring towns, they asked me what was up there but I couldn't tell them that was the castle of the Demon King, I avoided every question possible and let Sylvie answer then for me.
Here I am in the woods learning what my power can do, or is it even near to the full potential of my power. So far I've only unlocked three of them and it got me thinking I was some sort of elemental mage that can control all sorts of magic, but the icons made me think that wasn't the case so I strived to discover what my power can actually do.
Dazel comes with me sometimes and watches and sometimes spars with me. I'm sort of getting used to it now but how can I unlock the other elements of my powers? What trigger do I need? I concentrated about water and nature but nothing pops up, I guess I should just wait and see for myself.
I decided to go back to the inn as the sun starts to set and crickets began to chirp. I got out my watch, which is the time-telling crystal, I just call it a watch because it's simpler. It's already 5:49 in the afternoon. I woke up Dazel which was sleeping in the logs near the lake of where I was testing out my new powers.
"W-What Shane?" She said as she slowly opened her eyes and yawned.
"Let's go home Dazel." I smiled and held out my hand to her.
She looks around and looked surprised "Its night time already? How long did I doze off?"
"Nevermind that, let's go home. It's getting dark." She then grabbed my hand and stood up. She tidied up her skirt and nodded at that we can now go.
We were close to the east gate of town, when we suddenly heard a rustle in the bushes near us. I came close and checked to see what is was. I saw a small figure of a child hiding in the bushes, she looked at me like a predator ready to kill. What is a little girl doing at this hour? Is she lost? She then quickly pounced at me. I was astonished as I stepped back a little but she still collided with me, leading us to collapse to the ground.
I slowly opened my eyes as my head and back hurts from the fall, I can see a little girl resting at my torso. I was shocked and quickly stood up while holding on to the girl. She seems unconscious and I let her rest in a nearby tree.
"W-What happened Shane?" Dazel asked.
"Didn't you see? I was attacked." I bluffed at her as I giggle.
"What was that little girl just now?"
"I don't now but we better bring her along, she's unconscious."
"Okay."
I got the little girl and me and Dazel rushed to town to find the nearest inn there is at the east gate, as we run along we can hear the stands closing, people talking and horses running. People are looking at me weird though, I don't know why but I still continued to run to seek the nearest inn we can find.
I heard Dazel whisper something, I didn't get the gist of what she was saying though. I ignored it and I saw an inn up ahead as I told Dazel we're near.
We booked a room of three, and we ordered some food just in case. We went up to our room and placed the little girl in one of the beds.
"Dazel, can you get me a wet towel from the bathroom?"
"O-Okay! Be right back."
"Thanks."
I can't believe it, what's a little girl doing in the forest that late in the afternoon? Isn't she scared of the monsters and creatures that lurk the forest?
Dazel arrived quickly with the wet towel and also brought the food we ordered from earlier.
"Here Shane."
"Thanks Dazel, and you can go on and eat ahead, I'll take care take of this first."
"Okay!"
I placed the towel onto her forehead where she got a bruise when she rammed into me. Whose child is this? I got to find out whom her parents are and fast before I get in trouble.
I sat in my bed waiting for her to somewhat wake up. Dazel was staring at me for some reason.
"Y-Yes Dazel?"
She instantly looked away and said "N-Nothing."
Wait, is she blushing? Why? Maybe because of the food here, I am getting hungry. I better eat up too. I didn't know what they brought us, I only said bring us food. I opened the lid and I saw a salad, really? A salad? Well, no time for complaining now...
I ate the salad, it tasted liked lawn clippings and had the texture of cardboard. I don't know why and how but atleast I got something to eat. Oh, I miss the food I had back at home. I miss mom's cooking...
"Shane? Are you okay?"
"Huh? I-I am Dazel, there's nothing wrong with me."
"But, you look tired."
"Oh, this? It's just from my training a while ago."
"Oh okay, if you say so!" She smiled at me and continued to eat.
It had been a while, Dazel and me didn't talk and just sat in each of our beds not saying a single word to each other. The awkward silence was lifted when the little girl moved and moaned an indecent cry as if she just woken up from her sleep.
She opened her eyes as she looked confused, she sat up and said "Where am I?"
"Goodmorning miss!" I said to her with a big cheerful smile on my face.
She flinched and was shocked "Eh? Eehhh? W-What am I doing here?"
"You were unconscious little girl, and I brought you here."
"Little girl, you say..." She whispered as she ducked her head.
"W-What? I couldn't hear you."
I sensed danger. The little girl looked angry for some reason and it looks like she summoned as what seems to look like possessed swords that popped up out of nowhere surrounding the little girl. The swords were pointing at me and the little girl is raising her left hand. Is this her type of magic?
"You'll regret calling me a little girl, you... you... dummy!" She yelled at me as she lowered her arm the swords came flying towards my direction.
I dodged one of them and backed up until I hit the wall. I was leaning against the wall, as possessed swords where pointing at me, ready to stab me at any moment...
I just helped a little girl and this is what I get as a thanks. Will this be the end of me?
