At dinner we are taken out again and for the first time since breakfast, I feel an ounce of hope.
'Are Annie and Pete going to adopt us?' Luna asks.
'We are not sure yet.' The man says 'they already have 4 children so it would be a lot for them. They are still working things out.'
4 children! All my hope vanishes. I can't believe they even came to the adoption fair at a sibling adoption care home! Ok I'm going to make a promise that is they adopt us I will help them look after the other children no matter what.
'So where are we going?' Ina asks.
'To Mrs Oliver's my dears.' The man says. There is a slight quiver in his voice but I ignore it. Then suddenly Ina yells 'MY TEDDY BEAR! AND LUNA'S AND NOT'S! I WON THEM OFF A GAME AT AN ADOPTION FAIR!'
Ina sounds like she is going to explode. There are tears in her eyes. I understand why that bear is so important to her. Accept the clothes they gave her to wear today and my charm, it's all she will have left of Lamp head oh and Ashley, Elizabeth, Carly, Laura and Grettle. Ina bursts into tears and I feel a small emotion ache inside of me.
'Needn't you cry my dears, they cleared out ya rooms this mornin'. Found these little bears 'ere.' He held up 3 bears. The ones Ina was talking about. Luna and Ina grab theirs and thank him multiple times. I smile and thank him and take mine.
'Oh 'ere we are!' He says cheerfully 'Mrs Oliver's cottage!' This time the quiver is noticeable.
We walk up to the door and the man knocks a tune, laughing warmly as he does so.
'I'm coming!' An old scraggly voice yells.
We wait a few seconds before the door is flung open.
A tall, thin woman with an apron covered in flour stands beyond it.
