I was up early this morning, father is gone to the next kingdom over, the Min kingdom. Something about relatives. Today me and Wendy are going to collect wild flowers in the forest. I took my basket and my cloak and put it over my arm folded neatly and walked to meet Wendy at her house in the village centre. The walk was nice and quiet the only sound being the birds chirping and distant horse trotting. I got to Wendy's house and knocked on the door, a maid answered it.
"How can I help you ma'am?"
"Is Wendy there?"
"Yes miss Wendy is just coming now, she was doing work for her parents"
"Thankyou Miss"
We bowed to each other and Wendy came out and said goodbye to the maid as she closed the door. She fixed up her cloak and basket the same way I have mine and we started our walk to the forest, it wasn't a long walk but it was still a nice one, we reached the forest and started looking for wild flowers making sure to stay on the path because the ground could be uneven and we could trip in dresses. We have nearly got a full basket full and now are heading back the way we came. The chirping of birds is soon replaced with the trotting of a group of horses. I looked over at Wendy in confusion.
"Why would there be horses around here?"
"I know nobody goes here on a horse, it's more popular at the east side of the forest"
We gave each other the confused looks as the trotting became louder an louder and louder, until the voices of men could be heard along with it and we were told to stop. We turned around and a...oh my lord, a royal guard looked down at us from his horse.
"You ladies aren't meant to be here when his majesty is out"
I kindly bowed at the guard and defended myself.
"Not to be rude sir but his majesty never comes down this far normally up east of here so I think we have every right to be here"
I smiled at him and bowed again, turned back around and walked on with Wendy. Then the horse trotting started again and it was following us! How stupid am I... they were going this way when that guard stopped us. Wendy leaned into my ear and whispered.
"How far do you think their gunna be behind us"
I leaned over and whispered back.
"Well consider how far we have walked into the forest before we turned to go back home"
She looked at me with depression in her eyes and I let out a light giggle and continued walking on. It has been a while and we are near the end of the forest but the prince and his friend are now beside us rather than I front of us. I'm not daring to look up. And when I mean beside us I mean like BESIDE us. We kept calm and kept walking until the clearance and we seen a crowd infront of the village centre making a lot of noise. Wendy asked me.
"What do you think it is?"
"Probably one of the school boys getting into trouble again"
And just then the princes turned the other way and went the road to the castle. Wendy let out a big sigh and we continued walking getting closer and closer until I realised it was the group of messers our age just hanging out. We tried our best to walk past them but their leader mingyu stepped out infront of us.
"Good day ladies.."
We both bowed and tried walking around him when he grabbed my shoulder and swung me back around to him, Wendy stopped and looked at him in rage and blurred out.
"I'm sorry mingyu but we have places to be"
She tried to pull me back but mingyu was too strong.
"I was just going to ask miss y/n a question"
"Then say it quickly I need to go.."
I said struggling to get out of his grip.
"The dance, tomorrow at seven?"
"Sorry but I am minding mrs Bennett's children for her while she goes to the dance"
He let go of my grip and let out a frustrated sigh. Mingyu has always been like this and that is what annoys me, from when he moved into the village. Wendy and I started walking again u till we got to her house and we parted there. I got in the door and seen my mother stitching in the living room. I gave my basket and my cloak to the maid and went in to see her.
"Mother I am back"
I walked towards her with a smile.
"Lovely dear, have you heard the news? The prince is visiting the village today to speak with the mayor for the whole day with his other friends"
She smiled at me.
"Speaking of him.....we kind of met him in the forest while picking flowers"
"Oh my! What happened?!"
I told her everything and she laughed at it, then the bell rang and we looked at the door. The maid cane in followed by what looked like....uh-oh, it's the royal guard from before. He bowed to my mother and then looked at me.
"There will be a ball, for all young women of the village, Prince Kim Taehyung is looking for a wife. The ball is in two weeks"
