Harry's POV-
Harry was lost in his thoughts and wandering the corridors of Hogwarts with no particular destination. He felt like he could live here for his whole life and still not discover all the rooms and hallways. He was simply bored and biding time till dinner. He knew he could study, but why do that when he could keep procrastinating. What the boy was not expecting was to crash into a pillar which seemed to disintegrate upon impact. He was regaining his balance and realized he hadn't crashed into a pillar at all but instead had crashed into a Draco, who was gathering a bunch of papers that had fallen around them. Slowly the Slytherin boy stood up and was staring deep into Harry's eyes with Harry staring right back.
As the Malfoy stared at Harry's face the Gryffindor boy realized that the Slytherins eyes were stunning, the perfect shade of silvery grey that went nicely with his platinum blonde hair. Draco had a sharp jawline and, to his surprise, dimples. All in all Harry found himself strangely attracted to his gorgeous enemy. But that can't be right, Harry was straight, well at least he thought he was, but besides that, Draco Malfoy and Harry hated each other.
This reason had Harry very unsurprised when Draco only snapped at him and turned away. Harry whispered "sorry Draco" under his breathe secretly hoping the other boy would hear him but at the same time hoping he wouldn't. Then he realized hadn't called Draco by is last name like he had since the first time they met. Harry decided to let this lapse of judgment go and walked away in the opposite direction of Draco in order to prevent further confrontation. Heading to the library seemed to be his best idea. There he could attempt to sort out his feelings, which were probably just raging teenage hormones. If girls had them he was sure boys also had some variation of them as well.
Arriving in the library he found it close to empty and he had a couple hours to kill before dinner. Reluctantly he decided to start his potions essay 3 days before it was due instead of one day before like he originally planned. Being the king of procrastination like he was. Locating parchment and ink on one of the library's study tables and conjuring a quill with a flick of his wand.
Harry scanned the many rows and locate the various potions books he needed and sat down with a sigh. Slowly opening books and reading a random page here and there while occasionally writing a sentence or a paragraph. About two hours into the potions essay he only had two of the four required pages and was about to give up when Hermione waltzed into the library and spotted him.
Harry groaned knowing he wouldn't be able to give up on this essay now. Instead of pushing all the books away he picked a unopened one from the bottom of the pile. Hermione happily sat down next to him, her jaw dropping when she saw Harry doing homework, let alone before the due date. She started chattering about classes and exams but Harry skillfully zoned her out. This is a skill he developed over the time they had been best friends. If this skill wasn't learned quickly you would never be able to survive through a day with the genius ginger witch.
With the help of Hermione he managed to finish the essay 1 hour later and still had two hours to kill before dinner time. Since Ron, Hermione, and Harry were all taking the care of magical creatures class for Hagrid this year they decided to get ahead of the reading so they wouldn't have to buy the required the reading material later.
After much searching they were able to find the two books needed for the year. Hermione, who unsurprisingly seemed to know Professor Pinch quite well, convinced the lady to check the books out for full year use. She mentioned how unusual the books were and that the titles would not be missed which was true not many students were interested in 'The Mysterious Dothraki' or 'Quaffeling Fidelious' which were both ridiculous titles that Harry actually thought might actually be interesting.
Finally it was time for dinner and Harry and Hermione walked side by side to the great hall where they met up with Ron. Ginny had saved seats for the trio as she always did when they showed up a little late, which quite often. Harry was on edge yet he didn't know why. It wasn't a bad feeling he had but instead a feeling of excitement and anticipation. Harry almost felt as if he was waiting for someone although he couldn't figure out who since all his friends were sitting at the table.
Suddenly, he felt the urge to look towards the great hall entrance and Harry realized who his was unconsciously looking for. Draco Malfoy. He didn't know why but his heart leapt with joy as the Slytherin boy walked in with his little entourage. Even from his place at the Gryffindor table Harry could see Draco's gorgeous silvery gray eyes scanning the great hall alert for any threats or danger. Draco had always been almost a foot taller than him, but tonight Harry realized how muscular Draco had gotten over the summer. It made him feel something he couldn't put his finger on. As Draco scanned the crowd their eyes met and Harry quickly looked away as he felt his face heating up in the same unfamiliar way he had felt when they crashed into each other in the hallway earlier.
Dinner dragged on as Harry chatted with his friends while eating the amazing dinner that the house elves never fail to provide the Hogwarts inhabitants. As often as possible Harry would sneak in a glance or two at the gorgeous Slytherin boy at the table next to theirs. Harry was beginning to think he might have a crush on Draco Malfoy.
'Of all people it had to be him!' Harry thought as he changed into his pajamas and collapsed in his bed. His brain exhausted from all the work it had done today. Harry fell effortlessly into a deep sleep and for the first time he felt completely safe in his dreams, having no nightmares. It was as if something or someone was protecting him as he slept.
