I felt a hand rubbing my back. "Honey. Time to get up." I pulled the covers over my head. "Come on. I'll carry you out." "Why?" I asked. "Because we all have to get up at a certain time each day. Yours happens to be between all of the guys and the girls." He said. I grumbled.
"Come on. I'm letting you help me out today." He said opening a drawer. "Doing what?" I asked. "You'll see." I uncovered my head and sat up. "You'll be learning what the girls have to be doing." He said. I looked directly at him. "List of what has to be done?" I asked.
"You'll be shown." He said. When he turned, I recognized him. "Wesson?" I asked. "Yes ma'am." He said. I moved the covers away more. He had some jeans and a tee shirt out on the bed. "Your going to need these." He said then stepped out for me to get dressed.
I got up and inspected the jeans and tee. Then found some socks and pulled them on. I pulled the holey jeans on and the tee before pulling my hair back and opening the door. I grabbed my boots on the way out and set them down next to me. Wesson handed me a breakfast bar to eat.
Then a bottle of water. I drank the entire bottle before even blinking. "Good to go?" He asked. I nodded. I pulled my boots on before following him. "I'll let you get started before going to wake the others." He said leading the way to a building. He unlocked the door and led the way in.
"This is where we make jams, and anything we eat." He flipped a light switch on and the lights came on instantly showing a commercial kitchen. "This is where half work every day. They do swap off each week ending on an even number each week." He said. "It's only half a day though then those that were in the kitchen can go and tend to the flowers they decided to plant." He said. He then walked to what looked like a commercial fridge.
He opened the door and showed me what was inside. "We had to close it down when we started getting too much stored away last month." He said. He closed the fridge and led the way out. "It's still closed until we use up most of the food." He said leading the way out.
He waited for me to be outside before he turned the lights off and locked the door. "Next stop and where you will be starting." He said leading the way. He unlocked another building flipping the lights on. "Laundry." He said. "The washers need to be started, each color towels go in a different washer. There will be four girls here in a moment. This is today's chore." He said.
As soon as he left, I got to work. I noticed that the washers were color coordinated. It was a good hour before anyone walked in. I already had the first loads of towels going. Whatever was in the dryers was being folded. The four joined me and started folding. I put plenty of time between the loads and kept going.
Wesson came back around mid morning to see how everything was going. I was starting a new load and dragging the towels out of the dryer. One of the girls started folding towels that were set in the basket. Wesson stayed there until noon when Tex was making his rounds. The last of the laundry went through and was folded in no time after that.
We then could go do whatever we wanted. I decided to hang out with Wesson and get to know him better. "So who have you met?" He asked while we sat under a shade tree near a pond. "Met Madysyn. Was warned bout Chester, got side glimpses of Axel and Greg..." I started. "Yeah. Mady like to run his mouth." He said.
"It was informative yesterday." I said. "Because your new. If you want, we can go around and you can officially meet them." Wesson said. "How would Tex take it?" I asked. "He wouldn't care if you were the one wanting to." He said. "Ok. Were you there when I ran into the back of one of them?" I asked.
"Yes ma'am. That was Peter, the one that stopped you from falling. Then the one you ran into is Harris. He felt bad that he was in the way of you." He said chuckling the last bit. "Even though it was my fault?" I asked. He nodded. "Come on. If you absolutely want to meet the other eight, we have all afternoon to do so." He said standing.
He offered his hand out pulling me to my feet. "What exactly do you do?" I asked him. "I was put in charge of making sure the girls do their chores. I have to get them up and make sure they do what they need to so that the rest of us can keep working and keep this place running and safe." He said.
"So if there's trouble near the girls, you are the first one to alert them and to get the girls to safety." I said. "That too." He said as we approached a stand in a tree. "Who's watching the girls?" A guy asked. "Peter and Chester. Tex asked them to do it for today while I'm with her." Wesson said to the guy.
He gestured for me to climb up. The guy in the stand held his hand out for me to take when I got close enough. "Luckily today is a slow day." He said as Wesson climbed up. "Greg." The guy said letting me sit by him. "One of the many look outs for the herd." Greg said. "Who is she with tomorrow?" Wesson asked. "Don't know. Tex will send a text out when he wakes up on who will be with her." Greg said.
"Know where the others are?" Wesson asked. "Their usual posts except Peter and Chester." Greg answered. "Alright. Then I know who she gets to meet next." Wesson said. "Letting her meet us before we get to wake her up in the morning?" Greg asked. "It's her idea." Wesson said.
Greg nodded before he stood and helped me down. "Nice seeing you Honey." Greg said. "You too." I said before following Wesson.
