Ethan was shocked and speechless as well. What was this guy spouting? Was he drunk? Ethan blinked in confusion. "Uh... Where to, I wonder?" He reluctantly asked. He's afraid that Jack might still be drunk and wanted to force him to go to somewhere dangerous with him.
"Just come with me." Jack replied and headed towards the stairs. He stopped abruptly and turned around to see Ethan. "I assure that it's not somewhere dangerous." He said before climbing the stairs.
"Alhamdulillah..." Ethan sighed in relief and went to prepare himself to go out.
After a few minutes, Ethan stepped outside the house and locked the doors. Outside, Jack had already waiting beside his car, a black ford. It was shiny, as if it had never been used before. He wore a black long coat and a black turtleneck with a black khaki while Ethan wore a white v-neck with a brown khaki and a dark brown long coat.
Jack entered the car and closed the doors while Ethan was still standing outside in confusion. "What are you doing? Get in the car." He demanded Ethan to enter the car.
Ethan sighed and cracked a smile. Then, he entered the car and sat on the passenger seat beside the driver's seat. "Uh... May I ask again where we were going?" Ethan spoke after he buckled up his seatbelt. Jack also followed his actions. "Well, you just wait."
They didn't talk much during the drive, but Jack could clearly see Ethan's eyes sparkled in excitement as he looked outside the window. As they drove, they went through several shops and colourful parks. The weather was still cold as the winter just ended, but the sparks of colourful floras could be seen in the dark. The flowers were blooming majestically, showing its beautiful colours to the world although its place was only at the side of the road.
"Subhanallah..." He praised Allah, eyes slightly teary. He was grateful to see all the sceneries he had seen that night, and he would keep it in mind as there might not be another chance for him to see it again, ever.
After an hour driving, the car parked in front of a 24 hour restaurant. Jack stepped down from his black ford, and unintentionally opened the door to the passenger seat where Ethan sat. "Uh, thank you. I can do it on my own, you know?" Ethan said as he too stepped down from the vehicle. Jack looked flabbergasted, and stood beside the car as if nothing had happened.
They entered the restaurant. Inside, not a lot of people were around as it was already past midnight. They sat in a corner beside the glass window. After a few moments, a black skinned woman came to their table. "Well well Jack, fancy seeing you here with someone else other than your buddies." The woman smiled broadly as she crossed her arms.
It was Shakira, the owner of the restaurant. She is a friendly native American with a dark brown hair, aged in between 30 to 40 years old and always wore bandanna on her head.
"I want something easy to eat and digest, and something cold like parfait or ice latte. And also..." Jack scooped near Shakira and whispered something to her.
"Make it halal."
Shakira gasped. She looked at Ethan in surprise. Ethan who was clueless as to what happened just smiled, his pale cheeks showed a tinge of pink. His face was soothing to be seen and it melted her heart in an instant. "I see..." She smiled to Ethan too and excused herself.
After she went to the back of the kitchen, Ethan suddenly looked at Jack with worried expression.
"Did you just ordered food?"
"Well, yeah. I'm hungry."
"I-I'm sorry to tell you that I cannot eat anything right now." He stuttered.
