엒 SEVEN MONTHS LATER 엒

Victoria is deep into her pregnancy and we still have no idea why we are on this island. This unnamed island of who knows what. I have no idea. Victoria loves to eat nuts now. She devours all of the nuts on the island as if they are cupcakes. It's normal. I craved grapes and cheez-its when I was pregnant with Izzie and Brandon. The dragon usually stays a good bit away from all of us. He must not want to cause us harm. But why? Why are we here? I think this every day. What is the reason? I get that he brought us here for some reason because of the egg that Victoria took from the forest, but why? Why? It troubles me to not know.

Tori is having troubles lately, too. She is having trouble keeping things down and is waking up every night crying from pain. I know she's going to have the baby soon. I'm excited for her but I know that childbirth is a VERY painful thing. I should know because I've done it ten times before. Wow.

Hopefully, it's a girl. I don't actually care but for a first birth, girls are easier. I should know. Spencer is now a year old and he still doesn't talk, make noise, or move much. All of my other kids are louder than ever. Ugg.

Tori had her baby today. She wasn't eating and she wasn't talking much. She was barfing her brains out when she started crying. She could not stop crying. I tried to help her sleep but she couldn't do it. I was with her in her hut and she was breathing deeply on her bed. She lay on her back and had her legs bent. I knew that she was ready. Apparently, she did too. Ezra stood outside with Gary and they waited patiently for news. Victoria shouted. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

"It's okay, baby. It's okay. You can do this," I said, calmly.

"Mom," she panted.

"Remember how to breathe," I said. She deepened her breaths and shifted uncomfortably.

"The water broke," she mumbled.

"Owaahh," she made a noise. A scream rung out and she closed her eyes. I took the blanket off her legs and reminded her of how to breathe. Her face turned red and she cried. Her breaths shortened. The baby cried out at the cold air. Tori began to sit up and looked down at the stained bed and a bloody baby screaming. It was a baby girl with a caul over her face. I cut the caul open before the baby suffocated. The covering fell back and the baby screamed louder.

"Baby, baby," Victoria panted. She slipped on her jeans after laying there for a minute. "Mom, you saved her life," she said. I thought about it. I knew that many women who gave birth to a baby with a caul died. Many of the babies with a caul died, too. We were lucky. Victoria held the baby up for me to cut the umbilical cord. Gary threw his hands up in the air at the sight of the baby. Tori was proud. I was so proud of her. She gave birth and survived it. That's points to her. Yet I still don't know why the dragon brought us here.
