♡ There are shadows only because someone carries the light ♡

"Wake up, sleepyhead!",I heard a shrill voice screaming in my ear. I slowly opened my eyes and shut them tightly again when the bright sunlight streaming in through the curtains reached my eyes.

I groggily woke up and saw Lexi sitting on my bed with a huge grin on her face. She was wearing a bright yellow, sleeveless t-shirt paired with black shorts. She had a beach-bag in her hand. Her sunglasses sat atop her head.

"It's like five in the morning. Don't wake me up.",I said as I groaned and fell back on my bed.

"No dumbass it's going to be ten. And you have ten minutes to get ready.",Lexi said.

"Where the hell are we going so early in the morning?",I asked, annoyed.

"The beach!",Lexi exclaimed. Lexi always loved beaches. She loved squidging her toes in the sand, staying rooted in a spot while the sea water washed her feet, collecting seashells, making sand castles. It had been more than five years since we had visited the beach.

The prospect of visiting the beach immediately woke me up.
"Wow! We're not even a day in and we're already having fun!",I grinned.

Suddenly, the events of the previous day hit me like a brick. I remembered sitting on the floor with Blaze and crying my eyes out. I moved back, a little, as all the events came rushing back to me. I clutched my head and shook it.

"Amy, you okay?",Lexi asked, a concerned look taking over her face.

"I'm fine.",I said as I threw the covers off myself and got out of my bed. I pulled the curtains of my balcony apart and welcomed the warm, Hawaii sun into the room. The heat was not blistering. It was pleasant and drowsy.

Lexi quickly walked out of the room to allow me to change. I quickly brushed my teeth and took a bath, so that I didn't smell like death.

My hair was still wet so I let it free. My hair was still short but at least it was back to being curly. My hair sat on my shoulders in the form of beachy waves. I wore a decent swimsuit. I hated bikinis. I wore nylon shorts and a nylon t-shirt which was sleeveless. More than enough.

On top of my swimsuit, I put on jeans and a sleeveless yellow t-shirt. I scrunched my nose when I realized that my swimsuit was visible under my shirt. I shrugged it off and walked towards my bedside table. I put on my glasses. Everything became clearer than crystal. It was a shame that I'd have to take them off in the water. I picked up a bag from my suitcase and stuffed it with lotion, three towels, an extra set of clothes, sunglasses and a beach mat. I slung the bag over my shoulders and went downstairs.

Thankfully, I didn't get lost and successfully found my way to the dining table. Mr. Knight, Lexi and Matt we're having breakfast. Caspian sat beside his father. He had probably completed his breakfast, judging from the empty plate in front of him dusted with crumbs of whatever he had eaten. Blaze sat in one corner of the table, his head buried in a novel.

Mr. Knight was reading his newspaper. His face was hidden by the newspaper. However, I noticed that he was wearing a formal suit and tie. I was a little confused but I was too polite to ask about it. I silently took a seat at the table, a chair away from Blaze.

I noticed that the table was decked with delicious looking food. However, I was careful not to eat too much, or else I wouldn't be able to swim.

Matt and Lexi we're engrossed in conversation. Matt was left handed. He held Lexi's left hand with his right hand as they both talked about something, laughing silently.
