~ 1 week later ~

Despite our agreement, I had to stalk Annabelle for the entire week to make sure she's not gonna back from the deal. If she had, I don't know what I would have done, and with only Devon, the plan wouldn't be as complete and perfect!

Now, all I could hope for was that her outfit is gonna be a bomb! She has a beautiful figure, but with specific clothes, she can set a man on fire. Of course, I mentioned none of this to her.

Devon and I are sitting in the car, waiting for her in front of her apartment. Before we left, I thought she was going to be pissed because we were running late. Getting the gift that Annabelle wrapped so meticulously for Aidan in the car was a total bitch. How I handled the deal might not be completely legal. I put it in the back seat next to the kid without any straps because I couldn't bring them to stretch that far. But if we won't crash into another car, Devon should survive.

He is more than fascinated by the big silver bow on the gift. I keep swatting his hands away in fear he's gonna ruin the bow, but when he threatens me with a huge crying face, I put the pacifier in his mouth and strap him... a bit tighter in his seat. He makes no other attempt but whenever I look at him, his eyes are strangely judgemental.

Annabelle finally comes from the building of her apartment and my jaw hits the floor at the sight of her in a light white summer dress with acrylic flowers scattered around. To complement her look, even more, semi-high white summer sandals elongate her legs and her hair pushed to the side and braided down make her look like real-life Disney princess. A bit hookery if we count the short dress, but I'm not complaining.

I'm used to sleeping with pretty women, I'm used to looking at them, but... People will actually think that we're dating, I freaking can't stop looking at her. She walks down the stairs and she doesn't need a fan to blow hot air at her to make her look even better, 'cause she's freaking gorgeous.

She sits in the car with a somewhat nervous smile. "Hi," she says as she shifts in the seat, squeezing her thighs together, pulling the dress down by the hem and up by the straps. When she's either done or has given up, she sighs and stretches her hands out theatrically, "Will this do?"

What if she looks too pretty for this scheme? Sometimes having naturally good looks is a curse, I know that more than anyone.

I scoff and don't try to hide how my eyes travel up and down her body. I wouldn't mind making a stop for another quickie while she's wearing all of that. "I'm actually worried you look too good."

"Is there such a thing as looking too good?" It's obviously a rhetorical question because the next moment she's stretching back to say hi to Devon. She loosens his straps and takes out his pacifier, "Why is he strapped like a prisoner?"

So, yeah, I'm gonna ignore that. I don't want to fight with a lovely woman; it rarely turns out good. "I thought the outfit I picked really suits him. He's like a little cowboy."

At first, she wants to argue back, but I suppose she gives up on it half the way. Instead, she fastens her seat belt and inspects my GPS device, "So, where's the World War III front, now?"

I snicker as I get on the road "Brookline. The most family-friendly place in Massachusetts."

"Something tells me you don't really dig suburbs, huh? 'Cause of the family-oriented environment?"

"Nah, I just like living in the city. Civilization and all that. I don't dig the American dream that much, to be honest."

"You don't say." She chuckles and the entire loose atmosphere drops. At the next red traffic light, she scoots in her seat, so she's facing me with her entire body. "Nathan... Is this a good idea, though? Obviously, you and she have unresolved things. Maybe you shouldn't drag everyone in this and just try to talk it out with her?"
