Plot: Sanem and Emre are best friends but their dynamic is changed when Can makes a dramatic entrance into both of their lives.

Sanem and Emre had been inseparable ever since they were children.

Mevkebe Aydin had been the cook at the Divit mansion ever since Sanem could remember, her father the resident gardener. And as Nihat and Mevkebe's only child, Sanem had had nobody to hang around with apart from Emre.

Despite their clear class diferences, the two had gotten along easily. Other than being the exact same age, the two were similarly hot-headed and spontaneous and these traits followed through with them as they ascended from toddlers, to teens to adults. Many a scar was left on Sanem's skin as a result of recklessness that had involved Emre: one day it was rock climbing, the next it was tree climbing. The troublesome two had stuck by one another through absolutely everything ... the good times and the bad. They were the type of friends that movies and novels were based off; connections that weren't tainted by lies or obstacles.

Until, one thing - or one person -  changed their dynamic completely.

Eventually - much to Emre's dismay - Sanem moved out of the Divit mansion into her own little apartment. She felt like she was too old to be scrounging off her parents at twenty-three and had decided to leave her base menial job at the grocer's for something more exciting. Writing had always been her side hobby, more so a passion, and she had miraculously been offered a position in an up market publishing house that paid her well enough to get her on her own two feet.

"I miss you," Emre grumbled over the phone as he watched TV by himself. He had had a boring day at the office and wanted nothing more than to share a pizza with his best friend. "Why can't you come over today?"

"I'm going out with my work friends, Emre. I told you!" Sanem, who had Emre on loud speaker, jumped clumsily around her little apartment as she tried to slip into a pair of heels whilst simultaneously trying to put an earring on. "Besides, I thought your brother was coming today?"

The elusive Can Divit was scheduled to arrive in Istanbul and Emre hadn't stopped talking about it since he'd found out. In a Parent Trap type fashion, Can and Emre had been sent to separate houses following their parents' divorce. Emre had stayed with Ms. Huma in Istanbul whilst Can had been travelling the world with  his rogue photographer father, Aziz Divit.  To Emre, Can was just a stranger; he couldn't even remember what he looked like! And he was both thrilled and apprehensive to have his brother come join the family business with him.

"His flight got in this morning but he has to do some business stuff for Dad so he wasn't at the house for long-"

"Business stuff?"

"Yeah, apparently Dad is finally looking to move back to Turkey and Can is meeting some family friends in the property business for drinks to talk about locations-"

"And how do you feel about all of this?" Sanem took a break from her frantic getting ready session and sat down on the edge of her sofa. As Emre's best friend, she knew just exactly how much he resented his father for cheating on his mother. His selfish actions had torn apart his family, separated him from his older brother and his Dad hadn't even bothered to apologise for any of it. All Emre got was a birthday card in the post every year with the same generic 'happy birthday, son' message.

"I don't know, Sanemcim, I honestly don't." Emre shrugged as he sipped on his whiskey on the rocks. "I want to be mad, really mad, but the child in me is excited to finally get to know them you know?"

"Just remember, I'm here if you want to talk, okay? And, I get you." Sanem nodded. She thought back on her own crazy parents. They were absolutely loving but had a tendency to be overtly comedic whenever they could. "Can't choose your family, can you?"
