Plot: Part of Sanem's farm goes up in flames and everyone's in danger.
Like many things in life, Sanem had taught herself that she'd never see Can's hazel eyes again. He had left her once before, twelve months ago, taken his sail boat and disappeared and he'd done the exact same things a few nights prior. Clutching her engagement ring, she had ran after him, watching his ship ascend into the darkness of the night. What she hadn't expected, however, was him to come back. She'd spent her night like a zombie, staring out at the nothingness that had enveloped her life. He was here and she had let him go. The thought repeated itself in her mind over and over until she was clawing at her hair for her inner consciousness to stop torturing her. Her friends and family had started to worry for her and she wanted to reassure them that she would be okay eventually but frankly, it was a lie. Sanem didn't know if she was ever going to be okay now that she'd seen him leave her once again.
But when he'd reappeared the next morning, Sanem didn't know what to think. She wasn't sure if she was happy or sad or nervous or all of the aforementioned. Her heart was racing erratically and her hands were permanently clammy; her gaze in constant anticipation to see him again. And, today was like no other, with his father adamant to stay in or around her nice-knit area, Can had been frequenting her house regularly. He had even decided to help the likes of her new friends Chad and Deniz with the farm work. But as much as Sanem loved looking at the ruggedly handsome man that had once been her fiance, she still couldn't stomach looking deeply into his eyes. In her head, those eyes were always so full of love and admiration for her that she couldn't bare to see that gaze gone. So, Sanem just watched Can from a distance. They didn't interact, didn't speak ... it was just wistful gazes from afar that ironically reminded her of their time sneaking around the office in the early days of their infatuation.
As if repeating history, Sanem found herself dodging conversation with Can whenever she got the chance. But, again, like history dictated, Can always found a way to get to Sanem - always.
With the sky darkening around them and the crickets starting to chirp, their family and friends had retired from field work for some dinner in the barn house on the furthest end of Sanem's property. It was a quaint little spot, essentially Sanem embodied, and they thought it would have been a nice change from eating outdoors in the chilly and briny air of the evening. Sanem had offered to fetch a few bottles of water without thinking it through and was suddenly being cornered by Can against the side of her home. With her back firmly pressed against the glass, her breathes hitched in her throat and she stared at his chest wide-eyed, refusing to glance upward.
"Sanem." Can couldn't muster anything other than a whisper. He had been watching her all day and honestly, it had been driving him up the wall. No matter how much time had passed, he still knew this girl like the back of his hand and he knew when she was running. She had been avoiding him all day and even though they'd been apart from a year, now that he'd finally set eyes on her again, he was like an addict and she was his fix. He couldn't function properly without seeing her, even if it was to exchange some hostile words. But now, with her body flush against her home and him, Can found himself unable to form a sentence. She had been the object of his desires for years and here she was, breathing heavily beneath him in a red dress that extenuated her beauty in a way he didn't think was possible. "Sanem."
Sanem closed her eyes, her mouth unable to form a coherent response as well. The practical part of her - a voice that strangely sounded like Deniz - was telling her to push him away. He had hurt her repeatedly: walked away from her, abandoned her to battle her demons single-handedly, left yet again. Can Divit had been the cause of Sanem's internal agony. On the other hand, the more primal, more needy part of her wanted to open her eyes and dive right into Can's gaze. She wanted to get lost in his eyes, his touch, his hold. She wanted to feel loved again. And not in the sense by her parents or her friends. Deep down, Sanem wanted the man who protected her from thunderstorms back.
