The women spent the morning lounging around the apartment and slowly getting ready for the beach. Slowly because they kept getting distracted by one another.

The little apartment was filled with the sound of laughter and the warmth of the sun. Everything felt peaceful.

Silas couldn't take her eyes off the blonde that sat beside her.

"You're staring you know," Sarah grinded. Silas smiled, "I was waiting for you to notice so I could get a kiss," she tapped her lips lightly. Sarah leaned in a placed a quick kiss on her lips, grinning wider as she pulled away.

"Now let's go to the beach," Sarah said as she tugged on the younger girls hand.

__________

The beach was empty except for a few older people taking their dogs for a walk. The waves were calm and the sand was warm under their feet. Sarah sighed contently as she set her things down, she closed her eyes and lifted her head towards the sun taking in its warmth.

The brunette layed down on her stomach on the towel beside her and took out a sketch book and a few pencils.

"You know I've never really seen much of your art," the older woman noted as she layed down, "will you show me some?" She motioned towards the sketchbook.

Sarah was an emotional person. She wore her heart on her sleeve and she wasn't ashamed of it. When she was upset, or happy, or angry, it showed on her face. It showed in the way she acted and it showed in the was she spoke. The woman realized a bit after meeting Silas that the art student was not like this.

She was good at hiding her emotions. It made her a little tricky to figure out. Sarah had shown her vulnerabilities in front of Silas, but she had never seen Silas feel vulnerable.

Until she handed Sarah her sketchbook.

Sarah noticed how Silas looked away the minute she handed it over, as if she didn't want to see Sarah's reaction. She noticed how the woman nervously scratched the back of her neck and chewed on her bottom lip.

The blonde set the book down, placing her hand on Silas' shoulder, "hey, are you okay?"

Silas smiled, "I just get a bit nervous when people look at my work that's all."

"I don't have to if you're not comfortable."

She shook her head, "no, no its alright. Go ahead."

Silas went back to staring at the ocean while Sarah paged through the book. Some pages were traditional sketches of faces and bodies, others were colorful and dreamlike. Some had messy poetry written and some were stained with coffee.

"They're beautiful Silas."

Silas turned back to Sarah with a small smile, her plan of drawing now pushed to the back of her mind.

"Why don't we go for a swim?"

Sarah nodded as she got up, leading the brunette to the water. The water was warm but it still brought relief from the humidity in the air. Once they were waist deep Silas grinned as she splashed Sarah.

Sarah wiped some water from her forehead and crossed her arms as if she was upset even though she was laughing.

"What? You're not gonna splash me back?" Silas challenged.

The older woman licked her lips and shrugged, "please, we both know I don't need water to get you wet."
