It was dark. Very dark. I didn't even know where I was. Where was Dixon? Was he alright? I had so many questions...
Eventually, a bright light filled the room I was in, and I began to remember this place. This was the room where my mother had tied me up before when she put the memory-erasing spell on me. I was tied to the chair, unable to move, while Mother stood over me with an ominous smile.
"This is what happens when you disobey your one and only mother, Valerie." Mother told me. "So, please tell me you'll listen to me this time. Mother does know best, after all."
"No! Let me go! I want to see Dixon again!" I screamed, trying to break free, although it didn't work.
"Oh, do you now? Do you really want to see that awful reject again?" Mother questioned me. "You do realize he's a complete misfit in our family, right? He's a disgrace to all angels!"
"So what?! He's still family! Let me see him!" I yelled more.
"Oh, poor Valerie. You're so naive..." Mother smirked. "...but I'd be lying if I said I was surprised that you cared about him so much. You're just like your father was."
"Father..." I gasped. "What happened to him?! Where is he?!"
Mother didn't respond at first, only chuckling at me. She seemed to be amused that I was begging to see certains members of the family.
"Your father was just like your brother. A complete and utter disgrace. I'm surprised he wasn't outcast from his family, too." Mother explained. "He pretended to be like me so that we could be married, but when we had you and Dixon...he got soft. He actually started caring about that misfit of a son we had. He actually started letting you pursue your dreams. Pathetic...that's what he was."
"Wh-What...?" I hesitated.
"Eventually, I had enough, so..." Mother began, walking over to a box and pulling something out. My eyes widened when I saw it--a large knife with a few blood stains on it. "...I decided I had to take him out."
"You...you KILLED him?!" I shrieked. "I can't believe you! You monster!"
"It had to be done, dear. He was bringing shame to our family. I couldn't have that." Mother told me. "And now, I think it's about time for your dear brother to share the same fate."
"NO!" I cried as tears started falling down my face.
"Oh, don't worry Valerie. I'll make sure he doesn't feel anything."
With that, Mother left the room, taking the knife with her. Wanting to save my brother, I frantically pulled at the ropes until they eventually broke. I had rope burns on my arms from all the struggling, but I didn't care. Dixon's life was more important than a few minor injuries.
I ran out of the orphanage and hurried to the hospital, looking for Dixon. I didn't care how long it took to find him, as long as I could get to him before my mother did.
As I frantically searched the hospital, a young doctor came to me. "Are you looking for Dixon? He's on the second floor in room 203."
"Thanks!" I said quickly to the doctor as I ran to the second floor and found room 203, bursting into the room to see Dixon talking with his family.
