1:30 PM - Hospital - Valerie's perspective

I was relieved to know Dixon was still safe, but I knew he wouldn't be safe for much longer. At first I wondered why he didn't seem to see me, but then I remembered I was a pure white cat and the hospital room was purely white. I stepped closer to the bed and he eventually saw me.

"Valerie?! What happened to you?! Are you okay?!" Dixon asked me immediately.

"I'm fine, but I came to warn you. Mother is on her way here, and...she wants to kill you..." I told Dixon with a concerned face. Marisa, Evelyn, and Jade all looked at me. "We have to get you out of here before she finds you."

"But...my stitches are still healing...I can't leave the hospital like this." Dixon replied worriedly.

"We'll have to barricade the room so she can't get in..." Marisa spoke up. "It'd be our only chance to come up with a plan."

Marisa went to barricade the doors of the room just before Mother tried to open the door. I heard her voice yell to us from the hallway, wanting to get inside the room.

"I know you're in there! Let me in!"

"We have to get out of here..." Dixon whispered to me.

"We will, don't worry." I whispered back.

Marisa came back to us and we started brainstorming a plan, but we were interrupted when the sound of crunching wood caught our attention. When we looked, I saw the tip of Mother's knife sticking through the door.

"We don't have a lot of time...any ideas? Anyone?" Dixon worried. Evelyn and Jade snuggled close to their brother in fear.

"We just have to make a run for it." I concluded. "Let's go everyone! Hurry!"

I ran to the window and opened it, then looked out. It looked like a long drop, but if we were careful, we could climb down without having to jump.

Marisa lead us out the window while helping Dixon get down safely. I followed them, helping Jade and Evelyn down.

"It actually worked..." Dixon began when we made it down to the ground. He looked at me. "Val, you're a genius!"

"Aw, thanks!" I smiled at him.

"Let's go back home before Angelina sees us." Marisa told us. Dixon and I agreed, and we went back to Dixon's house together.

5:25 PM - Dixon's house - Dixon's perspective

I was relieved to finally be back at home where I knew I was safe. I laid down on the couch to relax while Valerie was helping Mom make dinner, and Evelyn and Jade were setting the table. I had almost fallen asleep when my phone rang. I picked it up and looked at it, when I saw that Ivy was calling me. I immediately answered her.

"Hey Ivy!"

"Hey! Are you okay? I heard you had to go to the hospital!" Ivy responded.

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Angelina knocked me into a tree and I had to get stitches in my back and neck, but I'm okay now." I explained to her.

"That sounds horrible! I'm glad you're okay, though."

Ivy and I were on the phone for a while, until we each had to go for dinner. I got off the couch and joined my family at the table to see that Marisa had made my favorite: spaghetti.

"So, was that a friend of yours?" Valerie asked me, having noticed I had been on the phone.

"Yeah, it was actually my girlfriend Ivy." I nodded. "Maybe sometime I could introduce you two!"

"That sounds great! I'd love to meet her!" Valerie smiled.

6:00 PM - After dinner

"That was amazing as always! Thanks, Mom!" I thanked Marisa after we finished dinner.

"I'm glad you liked it, honey. What did you think of it, Valerie?" Marisa replied, looking at Valerie.

"It was very good. Mother could never cook like that." Valerie answered as she picked up her empty plate and took it to the sink.

I picked up my plate and followed Valerie while Evelyn and Jade tried to pick up their plates just like us.

I turned away from the sink and saw Evelyn behind me with spaghetti sauce all over her face. Smiling, I reached for the dishcloth and started trying to wash her face.

"Hey! Big bro, what are you doing?!" Evelyn yelped, trying to pull away.

"Evelyn, you have spaghetti sauce all over you!" I giggled.

"I was saving it for later!" Evelyn replied just before I finally washed all of the sauce off of her. "Aww, man..."

I put the dishcloth back on the counter and started drying Evelyn's face with the towel. "Sis, you're silly!"

Behind us, Valerie was admiring the strong bond I had with my little sister. Seeing the two of us getting along like this made her wish she had a little sister that she could bond with in the same way.

Marisa found us laughing together in the kitchen and smiled. "Dixon, could you put Evelyn to bed later? I'm sure neither of you would mind it."

"Sure, Mom!" I agreed. Evelyn's eyes lit up, too. She loved it whenever I got to put her to bed because I would always tell her a bedtime story.

"Thanks, honey. Well, I'll be in the library if you need me!" Marisa told us before leaving. Valerie looked at me.

"Your house has a library?" she asked me.

"Oh, yeah! It's where Mom likes to go when she needs a little peace and quiet." I explained.

"That's so cool! Do you think you could show me sometime?" Valerie continued.

"Definitely!" I told Valerie.

8:30 PM - Evelyn's Bedtime

Once it was time for Evelyn to go to bed, I took her upstairs and she sat in bed, eagerly waiting for her bedtime story.

"Hey, big bro?" Evelyn asked me.

"Yes?"

"Can you tell me the story of how you met Ivy?"

"Of course I can, sis." I smiled, patting Evelyn's head before beginning my story.
