Harry takes a seat next to Louis' hospital bed, studying him, "how do you feel?"
"I feel like shit if I'm perfectly honest," Louis replies as he's staring at Harry. "This is hard, Harry..."
"I know... I know you don't wanna feel this way..."
Louis sighs and stares up at the ceiling; his body is exhausted, nauseous, aching... all he wants is for it to end.
Ever since Louis had been transferred to the hospital just 3 days ago because of his chemo and because of the 'special circumstances', the hospital administration had allowed the family to spend as much time as possible with him during his treatment.
Harry had even been allowed to spend the night next to his husband, and by now the family had set up some sort of schedule.
Louis had tried to convince everybody that they shouldn't focus all of their lives on him so much, but his requests had stayed unanswered and if he was being honest he actually found being surrounded by his loved ones very comforting.
Three days and it was becoming a routine already.
"What about a nice long bath?" Harry suggests to Louis.
Louis grins a little, "that doesn't sound so bad... but Lottie is coming over."
"Alright," Harry nods with a smile, dimples slowly showing, "Don't worry about Lottie, she's still at the hotel with Gems. You have time, love."
"Fine," Louis grins a little, "I'm guessing you're going to run it for me, right?"
"Of course," Harry replies and leans over to kiss Louis softly before he's running his hands through his hair and whispering, "bubbles or no bubbles?"
"Bubbles," Louis grins some as he stares at Harry.
"Gotcha," Harry nods and gets up, going to their bathroom immediately.
Louis watches him, his emotions wanting to overtake him as he thinks just how far Harry will go to make this easier for him.
He gets up slowly and walks to the bathroom, watching from the doorway as Harry is starting the water in the hospital bathtub.
Harry notices Louis in the doorway as he stands with the bubbles, "something wrong, Lou?"
Louis shakes his head, grinning a little as he's quietly replying, "no. Nothing's wrong, babe."
"Then why are you looking at me like that?" Harry smirks and starts pouring the bubbles into the tub.
"Because... I'm the luckiest man in the world," Louis replies, his voice deep.
Harry looks back at him, the smile fading from his face as Louis walks over to him, placing his arms around Harry's waist and pulling him close.
"You're going above and beyond for me," Louis whispers and uses his fingers to push back Harry's messy curls, "and I'm... I'm beyond grateful to have you as my husband, Harry. You have no idea."
"I do have an idea," Harry nods and says softly, "because I'm beyond grateful to have you as my husband, Louis. When I told you I would take care of you, you know I meant it. I will never let you fight this alone."
Louis bites his lip, his voice breaking as he whispers, "thank you. I could never tell you that enough."
"Don't thank me for doing what I should do as your husband," Harry answers, running his fingers up and down Louis' sides, "those vows we took on our wedding day... I meant them. I meant every word of them."
