Without fail

Everett and I ended up hanging out for an hour or two before I called it a day and it was actually pretty fun.

Then for the next two weeks I spent nonstop time on practice for the play. When it actually happened it worked out well and nobody could tell how last minute I learnt everything.

But anyways it's Pran's birthday today so that will be interesting.

"Afternoon, lovelies!" I greet everyone as I enter the club room.

"Hi jay!" Shiloh says and I pause, looking around.

"Hello dove... Wait a minute where's Pran?" I ask looking around.

"You actually noticed he wasn't here? How? He has so little presence" Nate says and I sigh.

"That's mean, but anyways. It's his birthday this time right? Or did I stuff up my mental calendar?" I ask and Jeremy sighs.

"No. You are right, it's his birthday" Jeremy says and I look over to him.

"Thought so. Why isn't he here?" I ask and Jeremy looks to the ground.

"Because he doesn't want to be" Jeremy says and Everett makes a noise of annoyance.

"Seriously? He isn't showing up to a meeting dedicated to him?" Everett says and I sigh.

"You can't really be surprised" I say and Everett nods.

"Yeah, I guess I can't argue with that. I guess I just forgot it took human decency to not leave us all here because he decided he didn't want to be the centre of attention" Everett says annoyed.

"He'll be here eventually" Jeremy says and I sigh.

"Good, I would actually like to sleep tonight" I say rubbing my forehead. I've been getting very little sleep lately since it's peak assessment time and I was busy with the musical.

"Well that's good he plans on coming, but we can't do anything without him" Lynn says and i frown.

"Why? he'd probably prefer if we did this whole thing without him" I argue.

"She's probably Right you know" Nate tells Lynn and I sit down on a seat next to Everett.

"I might be sleep deprived but I'm not stupid" I say tiredly.

"You really need to take a break, Jay." Everett says and I remember that I told him all about the crap they make me do at this school.

"I don't exactly have a choice" I say in defeat.

"Ohh are you okay?" Shiloh asks worriedly and I fake a smile.

"Yeah, I'll live. But whatever. When do you think Pran will show up, Jeremy?" I ask and Jeremy sighs.

"I'm sorry, Jay I don't know. This is what he does all the time" Jeremy says and I frown.

"All the time?" I ask and Jeremy nods.

"Pran can't make a habit of this because he will get reported but, like Nate said. People don't notice him when he is gone... so if he wanted to make things difficult for us this would be the meeting to do it, since we have to pay attention to him" Jeremy says and I scoff.

"So you're saying he's just doing it to be a dick" I say and Jeremy nods.

"Pretty much. He hates being told what to do, and that's what these mandatory meetings are doing, he is used to making his own decisions" Jeremy says and I sigh. I guess that makes sense.

"SSB isn't much more strict than a public school" Everett says and Jeremy scoffs.

"Yeah it is. I've actually been to a public school and Pran was homeschooled" Jeremy says and I nod.
