The doorbell to iris' apartment rang. She wasn't expecting anyone to visit her, but she also liked the company. Especially Joe's. She groaned as she lifted her head from Joe's chest and rubbed her eyes.

"It better be the pizza delivery guy." Iris mumbled and threw the covers off of her body.

"What about another dog?" Joe questioned.

"Dogs can't ring the doorbell." Iris chuckled. "I've never seen one do that, but now I'm thinking of training mandy for that." She out on her slippers and grabbed Joe's shirt to out on. Mandy was still asleep as she got to the front door, not bothering to look who it was.

"Iris james, what's taking you so long to open the fucking door?!" Her moms voice instantly woke her up.

"Mom? What are you doing here?" Iris said nervously. She was so not ready for her mom to meet joe.

"Dude, you're my only child. Wanted to make sure you weren't dead." Laura patted iris' cheek. "You got a dog?"

Laura went over to mandy, who was now awake, and petted her. "What's their name?"

"Mandy. And it's not just mine..." iris said in a low voice. Laura gasped loudly and squealed which confused iris.

"You and esme are finally dating! This is your dog that you two adopted together! Oh god, finally!" Laura jumped in joy. "I always knew you two would-"

She stopped talking when she noticed the look on her daughter's face. "So not you and esme?"

Iris shook her head slowly. "Mom, no." She whispered.

Laura then covered her mouth with her hands. "I feel like a terrible mom. I don't even know my own daughter!"

Mandy then barked towards the hallway and ran to joe. Both women looked over and saw joe with the covers wrapped around his body. "I was left without a shirt." He spoke and looked over at iris with a raised brow.

"Oh sorry, but while you're out here, mom meet joe, joe meet my mom, laura." Iris introduced them.

"Nice to meet you, mrs. James." Joe shook Laura's hand, still wrapped in the covers.

"You too joe. Please call me laura, mrs. James makes me feel old." Laura laughed. "Are you a friend?"

"Mom, sit down, I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee." Iris directed her mom to the couch.

"Wine please." Laura smiled, but frowned when she saw iris' face. "Too early?"

"I like her." Joe smiled.
