"So he's your boyfriend?"
Iris smiled at her moms words. "Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner! Please don't ground me!"
Laura laughed. "Ground you? No, I don't do that anymore. I'm trying to be a cool hip mom! Is that what the kids are calling it these days? I can never keep up with the slang."
"Oh my god, please stop talking."
Joe then walked up to them, a mug of coffee in each hand. "Iris told me how you like your coffee." He handed iris and laura their mugs and sat back down on the couch, mandy following him.
"He's adorable." Laura took a sip of her coffee. "Man child is what he is. I feel like I've seen that face somewhere. Where have I seen that man child?"
"Well he is the kid from Jurassic park..."
"Wooly boys!" Laura said. "Screw that dinosaur movie, people better appreciate underrated masterpieces."
"Thanks!" Joe called out from the living room.
"Where did you find him?" Laura laughed and went into the kitchen.
"It's more like he found me." Iris mumbled. "And I'm glad he did."
Iris checked the time on her phone and noticed it was almost time for her to go to work. "Joe, I'm gonna start getting ready. Esme is going to check in on mandy in a few hours. I'm pretty sure my mom is leaving too."
Joe turned his attention towards her. "Laura, you up for some brunch?"
"Hell yeah!"
"Looks like I'm leaving with her," joe smiled. "And we can take mandy. There's a dog park, she can make friends or even a boyfriend."
"No boys for her!" She flicked his forehead. "I guess you can take her. Hopefully my mom doesn't make you run away. She tends to do that to people."
"That was one time! And he was being an asshole!" Laura yelled back.
"She sounds like a nice woman. I can handle her."
"Wait."
