Joe knocked on iris' door. He was finally going to ask her the big question. Most people would say that the big question was marriage or asking to move in, but for joe, the big question was if she wanted to go on a date with him. Anywhere with her would feel like a date to him. Even if they were just hanging out, it felt like a date.
Iris opened the door wearing a face mask, eating a donut. "Oh god! Don't look at me!" Iris dropped her donut and ran towards her room. Joe chuckled and picked up her donut from the ground. Mandy noticed joe and ran towards him, happy to see him.
"Hey, girl? I bet you missed me like I missed you. Next time, you're coming with me and you can meet my new friends." Joe ruffled Mandy's fur and saw iris poking her head from her bedroom door, but quickly closed her door when she saw joe looking at her.
"Iris, it's okay. The donut is okay. You can come out." Joe informed her, placing the donut on a napkin and putting it on top of the table.
"Yeah I know the donut is okay, you surprised that's all. I wasn't expecting you to drop by. You could have warned me." She said and opened the door revealing herself to joe.
"Were you expecting someone else?" Joe asked.
"No, I wasn't expecting anyone at all. Donut?" She offered him a donut from a plate, which he took. "So, you came to see mandy?"
"Actually, i came to see you. If that's okay." Joe said and took a bite from his donut. "I wanted to ask you something."
Iris nodded and told him if they could talk on the couch. The pair walked to the couch, mandy following them and decided to lay down on top of Joe's lap. Joe grew even more nervous than he was before. He didn't even know how to start.
"Is it something bad?" Iris asked.
"No. It's not." Joe shook his head. "I, uh, wanted to ask if you would like to go on a date with me?" He said quickly.
"A date?" She asked nervously. "Like a 'go out with another person' type of date?"
"I think that's what a date mean..."
"Joe..." iris didn't want to let him down.
"No it's alright. I never should have asked. I'll let myself out. Thanks for not laughing at me." Joe was about to get up from the couch when iris grabbed his arm.
"I'm sorry. I do want to go, but I was never really good at the whole going on dates type of stuff. This one guy I went on a date with, made me pay on the first date and I didn't have that much money on me so I called esme and she offered to send me some money and the whole thing was just a disaster." Iris rambled on about the horrible memory of her dating life.
"That guy sounds like an asshole."
"He still is. I think he works like five blocks from here at a pharmacy." Iris chuckled. "But if that date is still an option-"
"We don't even have to go out to a restaurant. We can stay here, be with mandy. Oh! We can watch american horror story or anything you'd like." Joe smiled at her. "Or you can say no, I'm totally fine with that."
"My last date was years ago. Normally I would turn down a date." Iris said and looked at the floor. "But I'll make an exception for the cute john deacon look alike."
