It was Christmas Day, my mom gave me money and my dad bought me AirPods. When our family started showing up most of them brought gift cards for all three of us. My mom was cooking ham and loads of other side dishes. I knew I was going to gain so much but did I care? No. Hazel and Luna were on their way, I bought Luna a Riverdale phone case and a skateboard, for Hazel I got her a new pair of Vans and a visa gift card. I didn't work a lot this past year so I didn't have that much money coming in to buy better things. I also bought Ryan something but I didn't know if he would like it. I bought him some new Nike shoes and a Cleveland Browns hoodie, knowing they were his favorite team. I was Thinking about going to go stay with him tonight but he is staying at his parents house.
My mom is a really good cook, my dad not so much but that's okay he keeps the guest entertained. Luna and Hazel had just came in the door a few minutes later while I helped my mom set the table. After we ate we had a gift exchange and then around 6 everyone left. The house was a mess, my mom was tipsy, my dad was asleep, and Hazel went home. It was just Luna and I left to clean up. She was clearing the table as I ran the water for the dishes.
"So Luna I have a question."
"Okay what is it?"
"How would you feel about moving in the guest room, so you can get away from your parents." I asked hesitantly. It was silent for a few minutes, I knew it was a sensitive thing.
"Have you talked to your parents about it?" She asked.
"Not all the way, I told them that you might need a place to stay but I didn't say why, that's not my place."
"I see, but I mean I wouldn't want to impose."
"Luna, you're my best friend you're not going to impose. I just want you to be safe."
"When?" She asked biting her fingernails, she had a habit of doing that when she was nervous.
"Whenever. Now is okay, if you want. I don't want you to feel weird about this though, again I just want you to be safe because I care about you a lot."
"I know. I guess we could." She said calmly. I smiled.Over the next few days Luna moved in, with mine and Hazel's help as well as my parents. We got it all done in three days. No one really used that room anyways, we never really had guests over to stay. It was pretty convenient. Luna ended up telling my parents why she needed to move in, they wanted to report her dad but we begged them not to, knowing it would just make things worse. My parents went out that night so Luna and I chilled in her bedroom.
She was playing Sims on her Xbox, sitting at the end of her bed. I sat next to her texting Ryan.
"Who you texting?" She asked nudging me with her elbow.
"No one." I said playfully clearing the chat just in case she looked over.
"Mhm, I know you've been seeing someone."
"Oh yeah? How's that?"
"I can just see it in your eyes, the energy you give off, it's different than what it used to be."
"I don't know it's really nothing." I said obviously lying. Ryan and I had something special. I think I loved him.
"So are you going to invite this special someone on the trip?" She asked.
"I don't know, probably not."
"Hm."'I told Ryan about the trip and I wanted him to sneak over, he said he would if he wouldn't get caught. I don't think he would considering everyone would be celebrating, watching the ball drop and not paying attention to what's going on in my room.
