The drive to the Hospital was miserably long. So many things rushed around my head, Ryan kept asking if I was okay and I just kept quiet. My face was puffy and red, my breathing irregular. I could feel Luna slipping through my fingers like water. We arrived at the place where life meets death and I ran faster then I ever did, Ryan behind me. I saw Hazel, Carson, and Dennis in the waiting room, Luna's parents no where to be seen. Carson was crying to Dennis, Hazel on the floor staring ahead showing no emotion.
I rushed to Hazel hugging her tightly as I cried into her shoulder. I looked over to Carson who was still crying.
"What happened." I asked.
"I don't know I was asleep and all of a sudden I heard something break, I woke up and saw the flower vase broken and - Luna passed out next to it. I called 9-1-1 and they said she didn't have a pulse and took her back there they think she overdosed."I couldn't lose my best friend. She means so much to me. We have all been friends for years. I couldn't go on without her. I loved her so much, she meant so much to my family and I. I paced around the waiting room glancing at the clock every chance I get. Waiting for the doctors to come and tell us she is going to be alright. I needed her to be safe. I cried to the point where I couldn't breathe.
The doctors came in the room about an hour later, all of us waiting in anticipation. They looked around the room then spotted us. We all got up as she came closer.
"Are you Luna's father?" She asked looking at Ryan.
"Oh no, just a friend. Her parents aren't here."
She hesitated before speaking again. "Okay well your friend is fine, she overdosed on Opioids we got some out that weren't dissolved yet but there were some that did. She has since then been put on an IV that will help stabilize her. You can see her for a few minutes but then she is going to be sent to Oasis Behavioral Health Hospital." The doctor said.
"Wait, why is she going there, she's not crazy." Carson said in an angry tone.
"Sir it appears she tried to commit suicide and that is the protocol, she needs help. No one deserves to take their own life." As she said that my heart broke into pieces as I fell into Ryan's embrace and sobbed.
"Her room is down this hall, follow me." The doctor said turning around and leading us through large doors and into a hallway then to a small room. Luna was laying there, her eyes opened to the sound of us walking in. With a smile she choked out the words, "Hey."Hazel and I sat on the end of the bed while Carson sat in the chair next to her grabbing her hand and intertwined her fingers with his.
"Baby we were so worried about you. Why did you do that?" Carson asked pushing a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear.
"I don't know." She whispered, a tear rolled down her cheek.
"It's okay Luna, we don't have to talk about it right now." I said with a fake smile holding back my tears. A few minutes passed in silence, the adware tension spread through the bland room. Then Luna spoke quietly.
"You guys should probably go now before the doctor kicks you out." She said pulling her hand away from Carson and closing her eyes. Carson got up and rushed out of the room, you could hear him crying down the hallway.
"It's only three days, you'll be fine." Luna said quietly before drifting off to sleep.Hazel and I slowly got up and left the room, Dennis and Ryan following behind. I glanced at myself through a mirror that was hung in the hall, my hair was messy and my face was puffy and red. Ryan came up next to me taking my hand in his and waited till we were in the truck to speak.
"Babe it's gonna be okay, she's been through a lot and she thought this was an easy way out, it's obviously not. She is going to see someone and things will get better. This wasn't anyone's fault. She's okay." He said calmingly.
"You just called me babe." I said breaking my frown into a smile.
"Yeah." He chuckled, "I guess I did."
