Chapter 10| Don't Fall

I woke up to see a bare back.

"Oh I'm so sorry." I said as I rubbed my eyes and sat up.

They turned and I saw it was Carl.

"No it's fine, you just ran into a cell. You were upset it's fine." He said as he slipped on a shirt and put his sheriffs hat on.

"I'm just surprised that you didn't kick me out. I mean you hate me and I hate you and ya." I said.

He chuckled.

"I've gotten over calling you names, if you won't forgive. That's ok you will when your ready." He said.

"Whoa what happen to the rude Carl this is a mature Carl." I said.

"Well do you like the new Carl?" He asked.

"I don't know." I said putting my hand on my chin.

He smiled.

What are you doing Josie your fallen for him. Don't fall for him. Everything that falls breaks. Don't fall for him you hate him. My mind told me.

"Well I'll just go back to my cell." I said and started getting up.

My legs felt like jello, and I started to lose my balance. I fell backwards but arms caught me. I looked up to see Carl. My body tingled and butterflies grew bigger in my stomach.

"You need to rest it's ok." Carl said helping me back to the bed.

"But I'm invading your cell." I said.

"It's fine." He said as he laid me down.

"Thanks." I said as he walked out the room.

He just feels sorry for you. I told myself in my head. I decided to go to sleep. Wanting to forget everything.

I woke up and saw Carl siting in a chair reading a book.

"Why is it that when ever I wake up the first thing I see is you." I said.

"I'm just that cool." He said as he put the book down.

"Are you ready to try and walk?" He asked.

"Oh you want me out of your cell so bad." I said.

He chuckled.

"No but knowing you, you would hate to be locked up all day." He said.

I smiled and slowly got up placing my feet on the ground. I slowly stood up and with the help of Carl made it to the door. I walked out to the main room, with the help from Carl. I sat down by Axel.

"Glad to see you up and walking around." He said.

I smiled.

"Ya and getting along with Carl." Ricks voice said from behind.

"This is just temporary" Carl said.

"Ya I'm in no condition to come up with rude comments." I said.

Everyone laughed.

"Hey someone needs to go get Da-" I cut myself off "oh well never mind." I said looking at the ground.

"Josie they probably went back to look for you." Maggie said.

"Ya like they did the first time." I said.

Carol handed me a can of green beans.

"Thanks." I said as I took the can and gobbled down green beans.
