Chapter 26| Confused

Josie's POV

I love it here! I'm so glad Daryl came to get us. I think we can actually make this work.

"Can I help anywhere?" I asked Beth and Nikki as I walked up to the little cook out they had set up.

"Ya we are preparing dinner." Nikki said and lead me over to Carol.

"You need help?" Nikki asked.

"Sure do, go over and stir that" she said as she chopped up some carrots.

Nikki and me took turns stirring the soup and Carol would add in some things. We talked about normal things like none of this happened. We started to serve people and I was filling up bowls and handing them while Nikki gave them each a piece of bread. There were some people I knew from a long time ago and some I had no clue who they were. A familiar face was Mika and her sister Lizzy.

"Josie your back!" Mika said.

"I haven't seen you two forever." I said handing them each a bowl.

"Ya we heard you were here but never found you." Lizzy said.

"Yea, I had some things to do I was gone for a while, now go eat your holding up the line we can chat later." I said shooing them off. Next in like was Garrett and Carl they were acting like 3rd graders again pushing in the line. They became really close again it was nice. I handed Carl a bowl.

"Did you make this?" He said looking at it.

"Ya you got a problem with it?" I asked with my hand on my hips.

"Ya, you made it." He said and earned a chuckle from Garrett.

"I'm highly affened by that." I said with my mouth open.

"Shut your mouth you will caught flies." Carl said and leaned over and pushed my mouth closed.

We all couldn't help but laugh. I handed Garrett a bowl and they went and sat down. We finished and Nikki and me grabbed a bowl and went and sat down by Garrett and Carl. I sat by Garrett and Carl sat by Nikki.

Carl reached over and grabbed a piece of my bread.

"Hey." I slapped his hand.

"What I haven't done that in forever." He said popping it into his mouth.

"Ya I could never sit by you cause you would steal my food." I said picking up my bread and eating it. He smiled.

"This is nice we are all getting along like the old days." Nikki said.

I would have said "it's temporary." But she had the biggest smile I didn't want to ruin it so I nodded.

"Carl!" Rick yelled.

"What!" Carl yelled back annoyed.

"I need to talk to you." He said as Daryl and him walked over to our table.

"Do you two ever leave each other's side?" I asked pointing at Daryl than Rick.

Daryl just glared at me.

"Come on your on watch." He said to Garrett.

Garrett got up and followed Daryl. Carl got up and as he walked by me he stole the last piece of my bread.

"Hey!" I yelled at him.

"It's to late to give it back now." He said shoving it into his mouth.

"Whatever!" I yelled I turned back and couldn't help the smile that crept onto my face.
