Chapter 33: Valerie

I walked into the cell that was gonna be hers.

"Hey Valerie, I'm Josie Dixon." I said holding out my hand.

She laughed a little.

"I know that's all Daryl talk about is you, and call me Val." She said.

"Ok, Val so how come you were in the Walmart?" I asked.

"Looking for supplies." she simply said.

I nodded.

"So, how did you survive this?" I asked her.

"I don't do backstories." She said.

"Oh well can you at least tell me what you did before all hell broke lose." I said.

She smiled.

"I'll tell you a little bit."

I nodded.

"I wasn't the best kid, when I was 16,18 that time I went to a lot of parties and drank a lot. Although I was trying to make it to collage become a nurse." She said.

"That's cool did you ever become one?" I asked.

"No I was in the middle of my studies." She said.

I nodded.

"Well you want to get something to eat?" I asked her.

"Na, I think I'm gonna caught up on some sleep." She said.

I nodded and walked out. I went to Beth's cell to see if she needs help with Judith. Just to walk in on her and Dustin making out. Eeww, I thought I quickly walked out luckily they didn't notice. I found Garrett sitting by Nikki and Carl.

"Hey guys." I said.

"Hey JD." Nikki said as she ate a granola bar.

I grabbed a bowl of oatmeal and started eating it. Garrett and Carl where talking about something I honestly didn't really care. They had a piece of paper and pens and pencils sprawled out on the table. There was a group of kids playing tag and one of them ran into the table knocking off some pens and pencils.

"I got it." I said as I got down on my hands and knees.

I picked them all up and looked to see that Carl and Nikki where holding hands. I smiled at figuring out. I sat up with the biggest grin on my face. Nikki laughed.

"Why such a big smile?"

"You two." I said pointing to her and Carl.

That got Garrett's and Carl's attention.

"What about us two." Carl said I could tell he was nervous.

"Are a thing." I said laughing my head off Garrett joined in.

Nikki and Carl's faces where both red.

"It's not funny, JD." Nikki said.

"I know it's not but still I never would of thought that you and Carl." I laughed again.

"How long have you two been a thing?" I asked.

They both looked at each other.

"A while." Carl said.

"And you never told me." I said to Nikki.

"I was gonna but Carl wanted to keep it a secret." Nikki said.

"Oh you two are cute, now we can triple date." Garrett said.

"Add Maggie and Glenn." Carl said.

"And Daryl and Valerie." Nikki said.

"What is that then, quadrupling?" Garrett asked.

"No that's four." Carl said hitting Garett's head.

"Why do you think Daryl and Val have a thing?" I asked Nikki a little confused.

She shrugged her shoulders.

"I donno they just seem like they would be a perfect match." She said.

We all busted out laughing. Daryl actually falling in love with some one. Ya right.
