Chapter 40| The one I fell in Love with

We were walking through the forest when we heard a cry for help. I was just gonna walk by and ignore it, but Bracken pulled me to where it was coming from there was a small clearing in the trees and a guy with glasses was getting attacked by walkers. I then saw more movement in the brush it wasn't a walker or else they would of came out. I shrugged it off but my curiosity got the best of me. I dragged Bracken threw the woods to where the figure got pulled back. I peered through trees and saw a sight I never thought I would see again.

Michonne, Val, Rick, and Carl.

"Do you know those people?" Bracken asked.

I nodded but I wish I hadn't.

"Hey you with the red hair!" Bracken yelled.

I pulled him down.

"What do you think you are doing!" I hissed.

He smirked and stood up.

"Hey you in that sheriffs hat, ya -!" He called but I put my hand over his mouth bringing us both to the ground.

I prayed they would just move on but I heard rustling in the trees. Then I saw Michonne's katana. I sighed preparing for the worse. Then there they where all 4 of them standing infront of me.

"Josie." Rick asked in amazement.

"How did you? Who is this kid?" Michonne asked pointing to Bracken.

Bracken then being the person he was licked my hand and bite it.

"Ow, what's wrong with you Bracken you bite me." I said wiping my hand on his shirt.

Val offered a hand, but I didn't take it. Bracken held his hand out for me to grab but being the person I am I didn't take it either.

"Fine be that way goldy locks."

I rolled my eyes.

"So who is this kid?" Rick asked.

"I'm Bracken. And you guys are?" He asked gesturing to them.

I lean back on a tree as Rick introduced everyone to him.

"We better get going." I said grabbing his hand but he wouldn't move.

"Wait your just going to leave, like that?" Rick asked.

"Again." Val added.

"I left for a reason." I said and tried to go again but Bracken still wouldn't move.

"Josie you really are just going to leave us because of Carl?" Rick said walking over to me.

Which reviled Carl standing back.

He looked different, he was taller, skinnier, he had his sheriffs hat on. This wasn't the same Carl back at the prison. And I almost said I'll come with you, but then the angry inside of me boiled up. I couldn't take it. So I ran out into the forest. Holding back tears. What was I doing? I heard my name being called but I ignored them and climbed up in a tree record fast. I watched as Bracken and everyone else ran past the tree. I looked ahead to be face to face with Carl.

"What the hell get away from me Grimes!"

"Wait, Josie let me explain." He said grabbing my only wrist.

"Haven't you done enough!" I yelled at him I didn't care if walkers heard.

Carls POV

My grip on her was so tight my knuckles where turning white. I didn't say anything. I studied her. She looked different. Her hair was longer then ever up in a high ponytail, she was super skinny, but she had the same bluish greenish eyes the only difference with them is that they were full of angry and sadness. Finally I spoke.

"Why are you doing this why are you running away?"

I have never seen her like this. She has changed because of me. I ruined her. I ruined us. I stared into her eyes trying to grab a hold of the real Josie the one I knew back in kindergarten the one that came up with the best comebacks. The one that had the cutest laugh and prettiest smile. That was so confident so brave. Who was funny and smart. The girl that always made fun of me in class. The one I rambled on about to my mom. The one I that I regretted leaving everyday. The one I fell in love with.
