Wanted- The Dark Kingdom

Chapter 22- Darkest Connection

A wind from the North blows,

bringing with it those who lie below.

With them, spreads the infection,

to what may be the darkest connection.

A crown forged from the tears of good and bad,

will choose the king whose army stands.

The light leads and the dark follows,

to the first jewel of the girl who borrowed

Then, the dark leads and the light follows,

to the second jewel of a man's true horror

A king shall be crowned where the first king stepped,

putting an end to their world's unrest.

Today, a disaster struck the palace. Apparently, for a shirt while now, there had been many bodies of dead demigods being found abandoned in alleyways. Worst part? The killer, obviously accused because they were found passed out with the weapon of murder in their hand, would be whipped to death before the king. King's orders, of course. I can't understand how someone like him acts, not at least questioning the killer. I don't understand how a beast like him could ever be loved by his people or even respected. Sure, he had done a lot for them. But I can never understand how someone can have love for him, knowing what he had become.

Before the meeting...

Maddox had been debating with himself, all day about how he should approach the situation. Tonight, it would be his deadline, he would have to present a name to the king, someone to blame for all that's been happening. Should he tell the king now? Should he wait till tonight? But the most important question that covered his thoughts was one: would the king believe Maddox, if Maddox told him what he believed. That he doesn't believe it's Astrid whose behind all this? Would the king see his point of view? Will Percy Jackson be willing to play the little game Maddox is planning to play, the second Astrid is accused?

Maddox was on his way to lunch when he passed by two guards and certain keywords in their conversation caught his attention. 'Jason Grace.' 'Rebellion.' 'Camp Half-blood.' Maddox had halted and turned to face them in one of the palace's massive, but empty, hallway. "What are you two talking about? What happened?"

"Haven't you heard?" One of the guards asked, his voice quiet and wary, as if he didn't want anyone hearing what he was talking about. "No." Maddox answered, "Do explain, however." And the guard explained, telling him details Maddox didn't know whether he should believe or not, but it didn't matter as one thing was for sure true. Jason Grace has the camp under his control and he is serving the new mysterious king. The same king, the last victim, David had mentioned when he was telling Percy the orders he was given.

Whoever the new king was, whatever he planned to do, Maddox had to figure out and beat. The new king's rule was spreading, and it was spreading fast. Percy Jackson wasn't the best king, sure, but he had given the dark demigods a new chance at life and Maddox wasn't going to let all of that go to waste.
