Wanted- The Dark Kingdom

Chapter 26: Former Teachers and Students

A wind from the North blows,

bringing with it those who lie below.

With them, spreads the infection,

to what may be the darkest connection.

A crown forged from the tears of good and bad,

will choose the king whose army stands.

The light leads and the dark follows,

to the first jewel of the girl who borrowed

Then, the dark leads and the light follows,

to the second jewel of a man's true horror

A king shall be crowned where the first king stepped,

putting an end to their world's unrest.

It was one of those days where I would only be caged by hatred towards Percy and everyone around him. Everywhere I went, every step I took, I was reminded of what I lost. I'm reminded of what could've been. I know what the hatred does to me. I know it feeds off of me, filling me with hopelessness and rage. I want nothing but to kill them all with my bare hands for what they've done to me. But then, always after the hatred shrinks inside of me, I'm reminded of how lucky I am compared to those who live in Camp Half-Blood. As tiring as serving Percy could be, working for him is much safer than working in the Camp where the guards patrol everything with their merciless whips in their hands.  Mostly, however, it never ceases to cross my mind the suffering Chiron might be going through, being locked up alone for so long while the kids he cares about are harmed everyday right outside his door. If I was locked up for this long in my tiny cell ,I would've definitely lost my mind.

How Percy got to his bedroom, in the palace, on his bed, he didn't know. How did his old friends manage to get him back into the palace and all stitched up in time, he also didn't know? But nevertheless, he was grateful for it. He made a mental note to thank them later, it was the least he could do.

He couldn't sit up, but thankfully, someone had placed a bunch of pillows beneath his upper back, to give him comfort in a seating position where he could still see everything around him. Percy had tried to get out of bed, but the pain that exploded from his chest was too unbearable, it left him panting when he dropped back down against the pillows.

To be in such a weak position, at the moment, was something he couldn't afford to have in his way. His wounds were now a liability he couldn't carry. He had a kingdom to run, a second jewel to find and an unknown enemy to deal with. Resting wasn't something he had time to do.

The huge doors of his bedroom suddenly opened, revealing Annabeth's small figure entering the room. She was dressed in a white long sleeved blouse with black pants. She still wore the clothes that marked her as a slave and the chains that had stayed on her wrists for years were still evident through the fabric. Percy had to take care of that. Her now short, but still beautiful curls, were left unbound, left to take their natural shape.
