Wanted- The Dark Kingdom

Chapter 37- Riddles and Traps

A wind from the North blows,

bringing with it those who lie below.

With them, spreads the infection,

to what may be the darkest connection.

A crown forged from the tears of good and bad,

will choose the king whose army stands.

The light leads and the dark follows,

to the first jewel of the girl who borrowed

Then, the dark leads and the light follows,

to the second jewel of a man's true horror

A king shall be crowned where the first king stepped,

putting an end to their world's unrest.

From afar, the warship appeared like a burning fallen star in the middle of the ocean. But up close, one would recognize it was a warship. A warship with hundreds of burning lanterns on and around its deck. The lantern illuminated the dark night, as if its intentions were to keep it at bay, for good.

Aside the forceful light, the sounds of laughter and chatter filled the air. Any passerby would recognize that a celebration was going on.

Demigods filled every inch of the deck, celebrating their recent victory with filled cups in their hands and weapons of all kinds at their sides. An unusual appearance. An unusual combination.

The light, laughter and relaxed energy concealed the fact that they were on a warship, heading to war. But it didn't matter. Not tonight. Not for now.

Jason Grace stood amongst those demigods, his grin as wide as ever. In his circle, he stood alongside many of his former fellow campers. Now they were soldiers in his army. Soldiers who would help him bring the downfall of Percy Jackson.

Jason had done well, and he knew that both Erebus and Kasdeya knew it. And if comparison were needed, he had done better than Kasdeya. It had taken all his willpower to not go after Percy back in Sparta, but upon seeing Kasdeya attack him, Jason instantly spotted the golden opportunity that had revealed itself.

Erebus had made it clear that their mission was to get the dark jewel and retreat back to the ship. Their mission hadn't been to kill Percy. Up until that moment, Jason had believed that he wouldn't be able to hold himself back when seeing Percy, but Kasdeya, the fool, had committed all the mistakes for him.

Better yet, she couldn't even rejoice in the fact that she was the one who found the jewel. No, that had been him instead. And Erebus knew, as Jason saw him question the other demigods that were in the battle yesterday too. Good, Jason had thought to himself. Let Erebus know how sidetracked Kasdeya was and how much anger and resentment the dark demigods held against her.

Jason knew his time to finally face Percy was drawing near. Both sides were now sailing towards the Island of Blood, to race to find the crown. Jason hated going back to that place, the memories that he had from the Island, he wasn't fond of.
