The dark mysterious night

As Duncan lay in the dark snow he watched the stars and reminisced the days when he knew all the constellations by heart. Perhaps if he concentrated hard enough he could recognise one. But he was unable to focus, the stars began to shimmer, as the inky black seemed to continue to creep across the sky, flooding the small gaps of light, turning them black. The stars were going out, and Duncan was returning to the dreamlike unconscious state, which numbed all pain and worries from his brain.

He hummed softly under his breath as he enjoyed the intoxicating sensation of passing out, of being so deliriously numb the rest of the world seemed to fade from existence, as he too began to cease to exist.
