10: CHAPTER TENI DON'T have anything to wear.
I quietly release a sigh as I crouch down and rummage through my closet for a decent piece of clothing, only to come up short. It's times like this I lament being unemployed. Maybe if I had a job, I'd have enough money to purchase a couple of outfits to last me a while. I make a mental note to start seeking for jobs as I rifle through my drawers.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
I can tell Ethan is growing impatient as he keeps sending me text messages consisting of a few choice words and threats. Ignoring his messages, I put my head in my hands and blow out a deep breath. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.
My phone beside me starts to incessantly ring and I decline the impulse to roll my eyes as I look at the glowing screen. Who else other than Ethan?
"What do you want?" I sigh as I rise up from my position on the floor.
"Why are you taking so long?" he barks out.
I recoil from the speaker, cringing at his loud tone of voice. "I changed my mind, I'm not going. I don't have anything to wear. Now goodbye." And with that, I hang up and hurl my phone onto my bed, watching as it bounces and rolls onto the ground.
Great.
I twist my towel tighter around my light ringlets of hair as I stare at the mirror with a frown. Not even five minutes pass by when the door to my dorm room is tackled down by none other than Ethan. He swings his angry green eyes to me and scowls. He stops short once he takes note of the baggy attire I'm sporting and the towel atop of my head. "Why the actual hell do you look like my grandma?"
I prop my hands along my hips. "Well, that's not very nice," I remark with my eyebrows both raised.
This induces a scoff from Ethan. "I never said I was nice. Now hurry up and get dressed," he orders.
"I already told you I'm not going! I have nothing to wear!" I throw my arms up in the air. Ethan strides across the room and squats down beside my closet, earning a silent frown from me. He starts rifling through articles of clothing and I fumble out a peeved sigh. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Here, how about this. It looks...okay-ish." He chucks a piece of clothing at my face and I stumble back a few steps as I hastily grab it. I wrinkle my nose and glimpse down at it, assessing it from top to bottom.
"It's kind of short," I begin to say but he's already left the room at that point. Throwing my head back, I emit a quiet groan as I stalk towards my bathroom and change into the pale pink dress he picked out for me.
