a/n i know exactly what Alli's dress looks like and I wanted to add a pic of it above but I KNOW how much readers hate the characters sense of fashion (with good reason, wattpad characters don't know how to dress) so I'll let you guys imagine how it looks like!
also don't hate me after this chapter 🙈
49: CHAPTER FORTY-NINE
"OW, you're hurting me!"
"Sorry!" Izzy mutters something under her breath. Later, she adds on, "I'm just trying to help out." She's trying to pin my hair into an updo hastily.
Looking at the clock, I pout and say, "I'm going to be late, thanks to you."
"I'm almost done—just gimme a sec." She places a faux crystal headband on top of my head and adjusts it into my styled hair. "There we go, all nice and pretty."
"Thanks." I lift a hand up to feel my hair but Izzy swats my hand away.
"No touching!" She wags a warning finger in my face.
"Okay!" I raise my hands up in mock surrender. "I have to leave now. Ethan's waiting outside for me." The prospect of seeing him after yesterday's events leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Last night, he didn't bother to text me at all. The only message I've gotten all day was a few minutes ago of him asking me if I was finished.
"He can't even come and greet you at the door?" Izzy mutters, more to herself than to me. She smiles innocently when she sees the death stare on my face. "Here, pose against the wall so I can take a picture of you."
I'm throwing her a flat look as I pat down the pale, pink chiffon skirt part of my evening gown. This dress was purchased last minute with the money I received from Taylor. It's floor length and has a split in the side to reveal my bare legs underneath. It is embroidered with crystals at the front and comes down in a deep V to expose my chest, where the necklace Ethan gave me is resting.
I subconsciously put a hand up to touch the necklace, then I turn around to face Izzy with a sigh. "One picture," I warn her, and then I go to stand against the wall.
"Hey, your parents aren't here to fuss over you and take pictures of you so that means it's up to me to take their place," Izzy tells me as she raises the Polaroid camera she gave me to snap a picture of me posing against the wall.
I force on a taut smile for the camera and stick a hand on my hip. As soon as Izzy takes the picture, I lumber over in my silver heels to grab my phone on my bed.
