When Paths Collide

This I Promise You

Crouching down, I set the three violets in front of their graves.

I momentarily glanced behind me, seeing King, Remy, and Chase laying down before turning back to the three tombstones.

Taking a deep breath and exhaling, I looked at the tombstone with his name.

Vlad Darren Wolf
An Ambitious person
And loving brother

"It's been a few years, Vlad." I began, getting on my knees and leaning back onto my legs. "I'm sorry I didn't visit." I glanced at Jamie's grave before looking back at Vlad's. "I was just...lost...in my own mind. Running and running until I finally got tired and snapped." I gave a bitter chuckle. "On live TV too."

Pausing, I looked back at Jamie's grave.

Jamie Crimson
A loyal friend
And a caring guardian

Tears began to well up in my eyes, and it took all my self-control to keep what little composure I had left.

Glancing to the other side of Vlad's grave, I saw his grave.

And I finally broke down. The tears slipped down my cheeks, and I closed my eyes to no avail. Gritting my teeth together, I tried to keep the sobs from tearing out of my throat.

"I'm sorry. I-I am so, s-so sorry." My body shook as I gave up trying to hold back. "I am such...such a complete failure."

I dug my nails into the palms of my hands. "I couldn't save you. Any of you."

Vlad, the brother who I killed.

Jamie, left alone and then murdered.

And finally, Varen, the son I couldn't even give life to.

You're worthless.

Pathetic.

Selfish.

A monster.

A murderer.

I opened my eyes at the thought, my breathing ragged as I calmed down enough to catch my breath, though it didn't stop the silent tears.

"I'm a murderer." I whispered before I felt my aura darken. "And it'll take a murderer to kill another murderer." I stood up. "I will do what is necessary, even if it paints me as the villain." I looked down at the three graves. "I will kill this monster, even if I become one myself. I will do something right in my life, this I promise you."
