"If you keep doing this, I'll kill you." I flicked my gaze on Andrew after scanning the room.
Lily, Leo, Jaxson, and Jay were here, to name a few.
"This is only the second time."
"And that's already one too many."
"The first was a meeting, this one is a get-together."
I fixed him with a glare. "When were we ever friends?"
"I consider you a friend,"
I scoffed. "And I consider you someone I may or may not have to destroy."
"I wasn't finished," Andrew said. "As I was saying, I consider you a friend, who I had sex with and occasionally tried to kill."
"If only you succeeded," I muttered.
"Look, it's Jay, go talk to him." And with that Andrew shoved me forward, and I stumbled into a wall.
No, that wasn't right. I never put a wall here and even if I did, it was too soft.
A moment passed.
Fuck.
Another moment.
It's Jay.
And another.
When the hell did he get so fine? He wasn't always this well-toned, was he?
After another moment I realized I had yet to say anything.
Fucking say something, Violet.
"You're hot."
Not that!
I heard a snicker as Andrew passed us, making his way towards Lily.
"I'm sorry, that was uncalled for." I murmured, my mind wandering to the burning sensation that he was leaving on me from where he held my waist. "However, thank you for catching me." I straightened myself, his arm lingering for a moment before it returned to his side.
"No problem." He mumbled, grabbing a drink before heading over to his friends. I watched as a girl, whom I quickly recognized as Grace Clark, kissed him.
And something broke inside me.
Was it my heart? No, it couldn't be. I wouldn't allow it.
Pull yourself together.
I turned and headed towards my office, shutting the door behind me. King flicked his gaze onto me, Chase lifted his head, while Remy sat down.
Pouring myself a glass of wine, I took a sip and sat down. "Here's to drowning our sorrows." King rolled his eyes and Chase rested his head on his paws once more. Remy, on the other hand, stood up and padded over to me before laying down under my feet in silent comfort.
