"So, what did you find out?" Ryan asked as soon as I stepped into his apartment.

"She had a son."

The room went completely silent. The chatter between Ian and Nicholas stopped, Scarlet and Olivia turned towards me, while Grace spared a glance at Ryan.

"Had?" Scarlet asked.

"Had," I confirmed, sighing as I did so. "She...she lost him. It was a miscarriage."

"There was no mention of this on the media." Ryan accused. "How do you know she didn't lie?"

"The tombstone gave me an idea, but I didn't ask her. It seemed like a sensitive subject." I answered. "I asked Andrew."

"Isn't he that drug dealer?" Grace asked, her head tilted in confusion. "He doesn't seem like a reliable source."

"Criminals stay together," Ryan smirked.

I gritted my teeth in frustration. What I was frustrated about, I couldn't say. "Andrew seems to have changed while in the company of Violet." I defended. "As for the information, I can say he's a reliable source as he is the father."

The room fell silent once more.

"From what he told me, they both wanted it at the time. Andrew assumes it was loneliness and intoxication that drove them to have sex. He also said they both regretted it after." I sighed. "I think we should stop digging for information she doesn't want to talk about."

Ryan narrowed his eyes. "You don't still have a crush on her, right?" The accusation rolled off his tongue with ease, clearly, he didn't try to stop himself.

"What? No! What gave you that idea?" My eyes briefly flicked over to Grace, and I could've sworn I saw a glimmer of jealousy.

"You seem to be defending her quite a bit." He answered.

"No, I do not have a crush on her." You don't. You're with Grace. You can't. But you do. My attempts at convincing myself failed, but I decided to shrug it off. "It just brings me back to a certain conversation we had."

*Flashback Start*

"Violet, what's going on?" I asked, concern visibly etched on my face.

"Nothing that concerns you." Violet murmured. "Just stay out of it, it's for your own good." She turned and began to run after her wolves, not once stopping when I called for her.

*Flashback End*

I never understood what she meant, but now I think I have a mild understanding of it.

Uncovered secrets can lead to deadly consequences.

"What was her son's name?" Olivia asked after a moment.

"Varren," I answered. "Varren Wolfe."

"He has his mother's name," Ian noted.

I hummed a response, tuning everyone out as they begin to chat amongst each other, barely noticing Grace placing a kiss on my cheek.
