The End

My phone dinged in the night, pulling my conscience that was drifting off back to reality. Growling under my breath, I rolled over and reached out for it.

Whoever's texting me better have a good reason to do so.

I see you've found out. Meet me at your bar so we can talk and settle things.

———

I contemplated replying, but I decided against it.

I called Andrew, and while the phone was ringing I began to get dressed.

"Violet, it's four in the morning."

"Listen, if I don't call you back in ten minutes, call the police."

"Where? And should I call an ambulance to be safe?"

"My bar, and do so if you want."

"May I ask why?" I grabbed my phone and a knife just in case and began to make my way towards my bar.

"I need to settle things."

"I have one final question."

"Yes?"

"If you die, can I have your business?"

"Fuck off."

"Hello, Violet." A voice, one I haven't heard in years, greeted me as soon as I entered and shut the door behind me. "Nice to see you again."

"I so desperately wish I could say the same, Elizabeth."

"No need to be mean." She smiled. "What did I do to deserve that?"

"Plenty. Now tell me, what did I do?"

"Nothing. At least, nothing that has to do with me."

I was thoroughly confused. "Then why-"

"Because I can't hurt your father. I can't hurt Vlad, who was the most like him. So I settled for you and Victor."

Elizabeth locked her green eyes on my blue ones.

"So I was thinking, what could I do to hurt you the way your father hurt mine? Take away everything she holds dear."

"Tell me, what do I hold dear?"

"Vio, Vio, Vio. My sweet, innocent, naïve, Vio. What you hold dear is your power and the friends who became like a family to you." The way she said that with such innocence and as if her answer made complete sense was unsettling. "Everything you've done has led up to this moment, Vio."

"Andrew would go to extremes to keep Lily and his children safe. He's not a fool, he knew what I was after, so he left and sought you out. He did what I wanted without realizing it. I killed the people who wanted to make business deals with Wolfe Industries to keep people from wanting to do so, weakening your company. I killed the people who were going to leak your location because I wanted you to stay hidden from public view."

"What about them?"

"Vio, in honor of mine and Jaxson's friendship, I never planned on hurting him or his fiancé." She got off the bar, brushing some of her dark brown hair out of her face. "But they knew too much. Jaxson found out so I needed to keep him quiet, so I killed Jon. I realized that Jaxson would still tell you, so I had to silence him as well."

"Chase?"

"Your precious wolf found me. I know of your bond with them, he would've led you straight to me, so he had to be silenced as well."

I gritted my teeth together.

"Your father took everything away from mine, so I decided to take everything from you." Elizabeth took a few steps forward. "I was planning on killing Jay, Lily, and Leo to further hurt you, but I saw you did that yourself. All it took was for me to kill Jon, Jaxson, and Chase to break you." Elizabeth was standing directly in front of me now. "Anything to say before you die?"

"Yeah, how many wolves does it take to kill a monster?"

She smiled before shoving a knife into my stomach and ripping it out. Gasping, I fell to my knees, coughing up a bit of blood.

God, it hurts more than a stab to the thigh.

Smiling softly to myself, I looked up and her. "It's self-defense now."

Lifting my hand, I snapped my fingers. In a flash, King and Remy lunged from the shadows and bit Elizabeth's legs. With a scream, she tried to kick them off, and when that proved to be futile, she used her knife and stabbed Remy in the eye. With a yelp he let go and backed off, whimpering as he shook his head. King let go as well in concern for his brother. Elizabeth used this time to close in on me. Stumbling to my feet, she pulled out a vial of liquid and tossed its contents at me, or more specifically my eyes.

I held back a scream as my vision dimmed and blurred, my eyes burning from whatever she threw into my eyes. She grabbed my shoulder and stabbed my stomach a few more times. I bit my tongue, sharply inhaling with each stab, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of hearing me scream. Collapsing back to my knees once her hold on me was released, I covered my eyes with my hand as if that would stop the pain, blood steadily oozing from the wounds littering my torso.

From what little I could see, a flash of silver lunged at Elizabeth and latched onto her. From the scream, I could assume that Remy had bitten her and was now trying to pull at her flesh.

Something brushed against me, a black shape sniffing me, but abruptly stopped once a series of yelps sounded throughout the bar before a thump followed. King rushed away, clamping his jaws around Elizabeth's leg, not relenting even when Elizabeth used her other leg to try to kick him off or when he gave up on that and stabbed King.

It's now or never.

I stumbled up and lunged forward, taking the knife I brought with me and plunging it into her chest. She held back a yelp and used her knife to retaliate, ripping it out of King and stabbing my arm.

Jaxson, Chase, Jon, do it for them.

I ripped my knife out and pushed her head back with my other hand, whimpering as she pushed her knife deeper into my arm, before I slit her throat. King released his hold on her and stepped away.

Pushing Elizabeth to the floor, she struggled to speak, choking on her own blood.

But even with my fading vision, I could see her holding up two fingers.

It takes two wolves to kill a monster.

I turned my head, seeing the blurry shape of Remy laying on the floor. I collapsed on my way over to him and crawled towards him instead. Laying next to him, I buried my face in his bloody silver fur.

He whimpered, his paw on my arm. King laid next to us, tail over Remy's body and head pressed up against my back.

"I love you, my sweets." I murmured, letting my eyes close against better my judgement, the sound of distant sirens fading.
