"So you're being targeted by a murderer?" Victor questioned.
"It seems like it. Everyone who died was trying to do a business deal with Wolfe Industries or reveal my location." I sighed. "All I wanted was some peace. I never got that when Vlad was around, and then I had to deal with Andrew."
"Who do you think hates you enough to go on a killing spree?"
"Everyone," I muttered.
"We really narrowed it down." Sarcasm dripped from his voice. "Anyone specific?"
Now that took me a moment. Sure, Vlad wasn't well-liked around the school, but he had power over most of the students. I stayed out of Vlad's way while remaining by his side until he told me to 'go scare some rats', knowing very well that my presence around others was enough to scare the students off as I was a Wolfe.
Have I done anything to anyone personally? That's a different story. Truth be told, I didn't know. I may have done something by mistake, or maybe I did something while running Wolfe Industries.
But I couldn't recall any names of anyone I may have wronged.
Of course, I wouldn't have paid any mind if I did wrong someone, especially if it was during my 'reign', as people referred my time as CEO of Wolfe Industries.
"No," I finally said. "No one I can recall. It could've been something Father or Vlad did. If that's the case, then you must remain on guard."
Victor sighed. "If it was something Father or Vlad did, and you're being targeted for it, it would mean that I could be targeted as well."
"Precisely," I said. "So get extra security. Keep the ones you trust closest to you. Better yet, trust no one."
"Father had that logic, look where he is now."
"He kept everyone away from him, and as a result, there was no one there to stop him from taking his own life." I murmured. "This is entirely different. I am not telling you to keep everyone away from you, I am saying to keep those you trust closest and to keep your guard up."
"I'll do it if you do it too." He paused. "Deal?"
"Deal."
"I have to go, Victoria and Dante want to play. I'll talk to you later."
"Bye."
"Bye, Vio."
And with that, I hung up.
Victor already has two children and a loving wife, and here I am, single. I still would've been a virgin if it weren't for Andrew, my drunken state, and not wanting to be alone anymore.
Children.
If I did have Varren, could I have even been able to care for him? I had the money. I could've gotten him anything he wanted. But joy and love? What I was denied by my parents, one because of death and the other because he seemingly went mad? What I craved for ever since I was little? Could I have given him that? Any of it?
Probably not, but people always talk about a mother's instinct. That the mother would do anything for their child.
I shook my head.
Victoria and Dante are enough for now.
Get a grip, Violet. The first task, find out who the murder is and stop them, even if stopping them is killing them. Only then can you start about the future, if you live.
I glanced at the clock, tired of trying to give myself a pep talk, which I was, in fact, horrible at. The clock struck ten pm and I was faced with a difficult decision.
Get an okay amount of sleep, or stay up longer working, possibly pass out during the next day, and completely fuck up my already ruined sleeping schedule?
Groaning, I rested my head on my arms.
Fuck this, I'm going to sleep until noon.
And with that, I staggered to my feet before stumbling to my bed, King, Remy, and Chase following me.
